The LEGOLAND Beach Retreat hotel opened last Friday less than a mile from the LEGOLAND Florida theme park, joining the LEGOLAND Hotel in LEGOLAND’s hotel collection. The new hotel is modelled on a colourful beach resort – with vibrant bungalows surrounding a turquoise pool all located on the shores of the lake. It’s the perfect place to relax on your Florida theme park holiday, especially if you’re travelling with little ones.
The new resort takes LEGO theming to the extreme, with plenty of primary colours, LEGO figures and even outdoor play areas where mini guests can create their master builds out of giant LEGO bricks. There are 166 rooms in 83 bungalows, organised into 13 horse-shoe shaped coves which are each named after a LEGO Minifigure including seagull, hula dancer, mermaid and “shark-suit guy”.
So, even though there are plenty of rooms, the hotel feels quiet and safe, and it’s easy to keep an eye on your mini theme park fans as they play from the comfort of the porch of your bungalow. Keith Carr, North American project director for resorts for Merlin Magic Making says “This one is a little more secluded [than the LEGOLAND Hotel]. It’s more focused on outdoor play”.
Another reason to stay at the LEGOLAND Beach Retreat is the huge swimming pool and adjacent sandy area where kids can build sandcastles and LEGO creations using giant LEGO bricks, putting all the skills they’ll learn in the parks into practice. Inside, there’s another building area with plenty of inspiration and even a pre-built plastic sandcastle to keep the kids busy for hours on end.
For the big kids, there’s Sandy’s Castle Restaurant and cocktails at the Bricks Beach Bar, so this is definitely not just a kid-centric resort. A daily breakfast buffet is included in the room rate, as is free Wi-Fi throughout, which is really useful for planning your trip. All guests at the hotel will be treated to early access to the LEGOLAND Florida park, allowing them to enjoy the brand-new LEGO NINJAGO World with less people in the park.
