This month, however, the folks at SeaWorld have taken it even further, preparing a series of weekends to highlight these amazing experiences and encourage more visitors to learn about important animal conservation issues.
This comes after SeaWorld took home an amazing award this week, earning the Quarter Century Award from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) for their long-standing committment to the AZA's standards of care over the last 25 years. The AZA accreditation is granted on the condition of rising standards in the below categories:
- Animal Care
- Veterinary Programmes
This achivement comes after an incredible year for SeaWorld, in which they achieved the milestone of 27,000 animals rescued over 50 years, always with the aim of rehabilitating them or returning them to the wild. So when you come for one of SeaWorld's Wild Days, you know you're in the best possible place to learn about conserving our magical marine life.
Wild Days at SeaWorld takes place over three weekends in January, beginning the 16th Jan with a very special visit from world-renowned animal expert Jungle Jack Hanna! Jack is a former zoo manager and celebrity in the states famous for his iconic khaki safari suit! Jack will be dining with guests for breakfast and dinner and you can purchase tickets for this special event on-site at SeaWorld or online.
The following weekend is bound to be a popular one as it is penguin takeover weekend! Penguin Lovers’ Weekend will take place on the 23-24 January, featuring Animal Expert Julie Scardina and, of course, some of those cute little penguin critters! You can enjoy a host of cool surprises and even the chance to meet a penguin in the Glacial Collections! If you can’t make it for Wild Days this year, you can always meet a penguin with a Behind the Scenes Tour.
Capping off the Wild Days series of special events is Sea Rescue Weekend, where you can hear about the amazing sea rescue efforts the park goes to to save an rehabilitate injured marine animals. This will take place on the 30-31 January and is a must for all animal conservation lovers!
All these great special events are included absolutely free with your SeaWorld ticket (with the exception of the special Jack Hanna dining experience; tickets sold separately).
