The eclectic mix of headline artists announced this week by Universal Orlando for their 2016 Mardi Gras festivities has us really excited to celebrate this New Orleans holiday tradition! Kicking off the line up announcement with rock band Fall Out Boy, who will perform on February 27 at the park, Universal Orlando finally revealed the exciting news that Diana Ross, Adam Lambert, T-Pain and Jessie J will be just some of the incredible artists performing at this year’s celebrations.
Mardi Gras season is one of the most exciting times of year to visit Universal Orlando. A 14-day celebration of different cultures and festivals all over the world, including 4 new additions this year - the Ventian Carnival, Oktoberfest, 4th July and Rio – Mardi Gras is a colourful and dazzling parade which is included absolutely free with your Universal Studios Florida admission. Normally you can only see this amount of dazzling carnival action in New Orleans, but Universal Orlando have done an incredible job of recreating it with the help of official float designers Blain Kern Artists. Watch and dance as 12 magnificent and vibrant floats go by while cast members dressed in exquisite carnival outfits throw 1.8 MILLION beaded necklaces out to the waiting crowd. It’s great for young children as it’s completely family-friendly and the kids will love the colourful ‘treasures’ they can collect! New Orleans has also had an influence on the food, with delicious Cajun spices and smells emanating from the French Quarter.
Festivities kick off on the 6th February with performances from singer-songwriter Hunter Hayes in the Music Plaza and Rockin’ Jake in the French Quarter. The full line up is as follows:
February 13 Diana Ross & Mississippi Rail Company
