1. The Krakatau Volcano
As soon as you enter the park, you can’t fail to notice the incredible 200-foot-tall Krakatau Volcano. The impressive feature acts as the park’s centrepiece and is a great spot for taking pictures to remember your visit. During the day water rushes down the sides, but by night you’ll see red bubbling lava erupt from the crater! Make sure you’ve got your camera ready to capture the picture-perfect moment. If you like to think of yourself as a bit of a thrill seeker, you can brave the water slides that actually go through the heart of the volcano!
2. The thrilling attractions
One of the things we love most about Universal’s Volcano Bay, is the amazing attractions. The self-proclaimed “water theme park” offers a totally unique experience, where you can enjoy theme park-worthy thrills on a range of epic water slides. The Krakatau Aqua Coaster has to be one of our favourites. Be prepared to get VERY wet as you race through the depths of the dark volcano and plunge through a shimmering waterfall!
Those who are really brave, should take on Ko’okiri Body Plunge- an exhilarating slide that sends you plummeting through a surprise trap door for 125-feet of white-knuckle fun.
3. Waturi Fusion Ice Cream
Not only will this ice cream brighten up your Instagram page, it also tastes amazing! The Waturi Fusion ice cream is made up of swirls of banana, strawberry, blue raspberry and orange ice cream flavours. This is the perfect way to cool down from the sunshine in between tackling those thrilling water slides. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, don’t leave without trying this!
4. You can skip the lines
Nobody likes to queue, but the good news is, at Volcano Bay you don’t have to! The TapuTapu wristband lets you virtually wait in line, so that you can explore the rest of the park until it’s your turn to ride. All you have to do is find an attraction you want to experience and tap your wristband on the totem outside. You’ll be given an estimate wait time and can then go off and have more fun in the park- we’d recommend a go on the lazy river. When its time to come back your wristband will buzz and let you know its time to ride. Sounds good, right?
5. Private Cabanas
If you’re looking for a bit of luxury, Volcano Bay has a range of private cabanas available to rent. If you’re spending the whole day at this amazing park, the cabanas will provide a nice place to relax when you want a break from the sun. Each cabana features padded lounge chairs and a mini fridge stocked with complimentary water and fruit. You’ll also benefit from a free snack basket, towel and locker service and even a concierge service. These sell out quickly, so we’d suggest booking in advance, so you don’t miss out.
6. Special effects
Did you know, you can trigger special effects and interactive surprises throughout the park with a simple tap of your TapuTapu wristband? Look out for the symbols around the park and just tap your band- it’s as easy as that. You can enjoy spraying water at unsuspecting guests on the lazy river and reveal hidden messages in the dark caves with just a tap.
