It’s been suspected for some time now that Universal were hiding a big construction secret in their Universal Islands of Adventures Park, as work men moved in and huge screens went up near the Jurassic Park ride. After all, how can you hide something as huge, as jaw dropping, as massive as a brand new KING KONG RIDE?
The new ride will combine plenty of the stunning visual tricks (inluding wrap around 3D screens) that make Universal famous with revolutionary ride vehicles which transport guests through the huge sets of Skull Island. The ride is expected to even go above and beyond the hugely popular King Kong 360 3D at sister park Universal Studios Hollywood.
Guests are invited into the ride as explorers with the mission of discovering previously unidentified creatures in the deepest darkest jungle. Predictably however, things start to go wrong as their expedition is overrun by a swarm of hostile pre-historic creatures! But these predators aren't the only things that thrillseekers will need to contend with, hostile native tribes and an even more hostile environment won't make it any easier when visitors finally come nose to nose with the big man himself, as the colossal Kong emerges from the darkness.
Skull Island: Reign of Kong is due to open in Summer 2016 and promises to be a groundbreaking new attraction for the park. Here’s what Universal have to say about this colossal new attraction:
“You’ll navigate perilous jungles, explore ancient temple structures and encounter hostile natives – and that’s only the beginning. Throughout the rest of your excursion, you’ll brave foreboding caves crawling with prehistoric creatures, fend off unspeakable terrors – and even come face-to-face with the colossal Kong himself.”
Sounds exciting, and could even give SeaWorld a run for it's money with their mysterious ride announcement last week. We’ll keep you posted as more information comes out, but in the meantime check out this teaser from Universal...
