After purchasing your flights and theme park tickets, we know that you'll be eager to start booking your Orlando accomodation. If you're looking at staying onsite at a Disney resort hotel, you might even be feeling a little overwhelmed at the sheer variety and choice available to you! Kerry Staples, our resident hotels expert who has visited Orlando no less than 25 times (yes you did read that correctly!), has put together a list of reasons of why the Disney Beach Club is one of her favourite hotels in Orlando...
The amazing Stormalong Bay water slides and pool:
The resort’s unique sand covered pool is open late into the evening, so it’s easy to take advantage of the slides and beach even if you’ve had a full day at one of the parks. I love a heated pool and, of course, the poolside bar Hurricane Hanna’s! The water is the perfect temperature for a chilled out swim while the little ones enjoy the waterslides.
The convenient location:
Nothing beats walking straight from your hotel room to Epcot. (The back entrance leads you right to Epcot’s England area.) The resort is honestly so close to the park that you can actually watch the evening fireworks right from your balcony. But if you’re heading to Hollywood Studios, you can use the water taxi located at the back of the hotel or alternatively jump on a bus at the front for The Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom.
A lovely area for shopping and nightlife directly across the lake from the Beach Club Resort, you'll always find something going on, with lovely restaurants, street vendors and more. But if you're not quite ready for the day to end you can head to Jellyrolls bar for a brilliant evening with the duel piano sing-along.
Movies under the stars:
What a relaxing way to end the day! Out of all the movie spots at Walt Disney World, Disney Beach & Yacht Club for me is the best by far; running your fingers through the lovely white sand while watching a Disney classic - bliss!
Cape May Café
Cape May Café is an all you can eat buffet located in the Beach Club. Goofy, Minnie Mouse and Donald Duck greet you at your table ready for those all-important photo opportunities. The menu is varied and includes US breakfast favourites Mickey Waffles, breakfast pizza, biscuits and gravy, a fresh fruit and yogurt bar, fresh-baked pastries, as well as other yummy breakfast items. It can get pretty busy but the characters walk to each table so you can get all the photos you need. I got to see Minnie, Donald Duck and my favourite Goofy so I was more than happy!
