5 Reasons to Visit Animal Kingdom at Night
See the park in a whole new 'light'!
Animal Kingdom is transforming before our very eyes, and here's just 5 reasons why you now need to visit the park after the sun goes down.

1. The brand new Tree of Life attraction

If you haven’t heard already, there’s a brand new night-time attraction lighting up Disney’s Animal Kingdom.  The Tree of Life, which has been an iconic feature in the park since its opening in 1992 is transformed in this new show, Tree of Life Awakens, which opened earlier this year.  The Tree itself is a magical icon in the park, with over 325 carvings and individually-placed translucent leaves which are so intricate they even blow in the wind. With this new show though, you’ll be able to enjoy the attraction in a whole new ‘light’! Stunning natural imagery is projected onto the tree in a plethora of different coloured lights which are sure to take your breath away in the same way that Wishes does at Magic Kingdom. Make sure to watch out for the cute red fox who steals the show.

2. Shorter ride lines

As Disney’s Animal Kingdom used to be a day-only park, lots of guests don’t realise how much there is to do in the park later in the day. Because of this, ride lines are much, much shorter! An hour before closing, there are times of the year (including typically busy periods such as September) where you can go straight on to the rides…and even stay on for another go if you love them that much!

3. See your favourite attractions in a whole new light

You might have visited Disney’s Animal Kingdom in the day and visited all your favourite attractions multiple times already. But have you experienced the Kali River Rapids in the dark? Expedition Everest in twilight? After the sun goes down, these iconic rides take on a whole new look and feel which definitely add a thrill to these attractions you can’t experience in the day. Think of the Kali River Rapids in the dark – atmospheric smoke bubbles over the sinister red lighting as you tumble down the rapids in an eerily quiet park (compared to the day time at least!). It’s definitely worth doing.

4. Night-time safari

Another brand new attraction which has come to Disney’s Animal Kingdom this summer is the Night-time Kilimanjaro Safari experience, which allows you to observe the incredible animals after dark. Far from being asleep, the animals are often most active after dusk, when the heat of the day has cooled a little and they can come out to play. The safari is beautifully lit with sunset coloured lights meaning you won’t struggle to spot these beautiful animals as they make their preparations for bed time or just enjoy a night-time prowl.

5. Amazing dining experiences

You can’t end your holiday at Walt Disney World without taking in some of the amazing culinary experiences the Animal Kingdom Park has to offer. And, if you’re there in the evening, you’ll be able to experience some of the best table service restaurants the resort has to offer. The newly opened Tiffins restaurant is one such restaurant which has just opened at the park. Food is fresh, delicious and served in abundance with a smile – it’s definitely not just another quick service restaurant, it’s a great dining occasion for all the family.

All these incredible night time experiences (excluding dining) are included with your normal Walt Disney World ticket. To check out our range of great value Walt Disney World tickets, click here.
