1. Learn to Surf
Did you know, that you can learn to surf at Walt Disney World? That’s right, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park offers surf lessons in their state-of-the-art wave pool- which is in fact the largest outdoor wave pool in the world! You’ll be able to practise in peace, either before the park opens or after it closes. It doesn’t matter if you’re a first-timer either, as the classes are taught be an expert who will get you riding waves up to 6-feet tall by the end of your session!
2. Discover the Secrets of the Magic Kingdom
If you want to discover some of Walt Disney World’s best kept secrets, you can take part in an exciting behind the scenes tour. In fact, there are lots to choose from, but Disney’s Keys to the Kingdom Tour is one of our favourites, as it shows you around the Magic Kingdom Park and is more reasonably priced. During the 5-hour tour you’ll benefit from ‘backstage’ access to areas hidden from the public. You’ll learn lots of facts and secrets about the park and the attractions, and even get the chance to explore the famous underground tunnels below the park. That’s right, there’s a whole level underneath the park that you’d never know about!
3. Run a Marathon
Throughout the year, Disney hosts a range of half marathon and marathon weekends to raise awareness for different charities. The events are always lots of fun, with runners and audience members encouraged to dress up and celebrate at a post-event party. Anyone can take part, but you’ll have to register in advance, so make sure you sign up early if you want to get a place. Little ones can even join in too, at the smaller scale runDisney events. Once you've completed the marathon you'll get a medal to take home to remember the special occasion.
4. Go Snorkelling
Looking for a bit of adventure? If you’ve visited Epcot before, you might be familiar with the ‘Seas with Nemo & Friends’ ride. The attraction takes you past an enormous 5.7-million-gallon saltwater aquarium, that’s filled with more than 6,000 beautiful sea creatures. What you might not know, is that you can go inside the aquarium and enjoy a one-of-a-kind snorkelling session. Expect to see tropical fish, eagle rays, sea turtles and even sharks, as you glide through the water. You’ll get a complimentary photo afterwards as a memento of your incredible journey.
5. Have a Campfire
This is a great way to meet some classic Disney characters, as Chip and Dale are the hosts of this fun-filled campfire singalong at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. What’s even better, is that it’s completely free to attend! Be sure to bring your autograph book along and take plenty of pictures with the mischievous duo. You can also take part in the tradition of roasting marshmallows on the fire, with delicious s’mores kits available on site. There’s something special afterwards which brings us on to our next point…
6. Watch Movies Under the Stars
After a long day of theme park fun, there’s nothing better than relaxing with a classic Disney movie. These are held most nights at all the Disney Resort Hotels, but if you want to attend Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Campfire Singalong, it’s good to know that you can watch Movies Under the Stars straight after at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. Sounds good right? The movies shown are a mixture of old classics and new favourites, including Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Moana, Frozen, The Princess and the Frog, Tarzan, The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast.
7. Get Married
Ultimate Disney fans can live out their very own fairy-tale by getting married at Walt Disney World. There are lots of different locations to choose from, but our favourite has to be the East Plaza Garden in the Magic Kingdom Park. You’ll be surrounded by beautiful flowers and the sights and sounds of Main street USA, and of course, this is the place where you’ll get a picture-perfect view of the iconic Cinderella Castle too!
