When planning your next trip to the magical land of Walt Disney World or Universal Orlando Resort, you won’t be able to ignore the abundance of brilliant breakfast bars, crepe and waffle cafes and all you can eat buffet restaurants available right on your Disney doorstep.
We spoke to restaurant and café owners as well as some true Disney fans for their recommendations on where to go to indulge in the very best in breakfast feasting before exploring the magical lands that await you at the parks.
Keke’s Breakfast Cafe
“It’s like your hometown diner grew up and went to the city.”
With locations dotted across Orlando, Keke’s Breakfast Café is a familiar spot for those looking to fuel the day. Serving fresh food, made to order, Keke’s is “dedicated to providing an outstanding breakfast; a meal where everything is handmade, using the best ingredients available, with fresh fruits and vegetables that are delivered daily and using fresh bread and dairy products.”
Carrie a blogger at Flying With A Baby would recommend a visit: “We love to visit Keke's Breakfast Place. It is a family friendly restaurant, with a laid back diner feel, lots of booths, huge portions of fresh food and open for breakfast, lunch & brunch - which is convenient if you are a bit jet lagged and not sure what meal you are in the mood to eat or need to fuel up before entering any of the parks. If you are in a rush, you can even order take-out. I recommend the Florida Waffle with perfectly ripe bananas, strawberries, and blueberries. They are delicious and very filling. If you are heading over to Orlando, then definitely stop for a visit here!”
With waffles, pancakes, stuffed French toast, egg dishes of all variations and smaller options perfect for the kiddies, you’re not going to leave hungry.
“Let us fill your pie hole.”
Located in the centre of Orlando’s milk district, just a 25-minute drive away from Walt Disney World, Se7enbites is a one-stop shop for breakfast heaven. Offering a plethora of sweet and savoury breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes, all designed by owner Trina and her team.
With options varying from biscuits and gravy to a dish named 3 Little Pigs – buttermilk garlic biscuit served with egg, ham cheese, bacon in a thyme sausage dressing.
We spoke to the owner and chef Trina, who told us all about Se7enBites: “A visit to Se7enbites should be a must on your list of Orlando eateries. It’s the perfect way to start your day, filled with traditional Southern breakfast dishes with a modern twist. Created and led by Trina Gregory-Propst and her wife Va Propst you can also expect to find a plethora of fresh baked goods made form family recipes.
If you are looking for a unique experience you do not want to miss this locally recommended eatery featured on Diners, Drive-ins & Dives! Se7enbites is filled with Southern hospitality and scratch-made deliciousness and ready to welcome you daily Tuesday-Friday 7:30-3:30 & Saturday-Sunday 9-3 serving award-winning brunch both days.”
Grand Floridian Café
“For casual American dining at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, this elegant yet unpretentious eatery can’t be beat.”
For those looking to enjoy their first meal before you get to the park, you can’t beat the delicious sweet treats and fresh egg dishes served at the Grand Floridian Café. The laid back atmosphere at the American style café is perfect for those looking to fill up on fresh quality dishes with a Disney twist.
The Grand Breakfast, Brioche French Toast and Old-Fashioned Buttermilk Pancakes are just some of the offerings available to you, not forgetting the famous Mickey-shaped Waffles! Served with bacon or sausage, these cute and fluffy Disney inspired waffles are a hit with the adults as well as the children. A recommendation for anyone visiting the café.
Farm & Haus
“Our mission at Farm & Haus is simple: to make eating nourishing and delicious food an easy and accessible option for Central Floridians.”
A new establishment to hit the streets of Orlando, Farm and Haus is run by duo Brittany and Patrick Lynn. “Our belief is that good food shouldn’t be so hard to come by. That’s why we’ve paired our chefs with the best quality local and seasonal ingredients to create dishes you love, with an ordering system that makes them as convenient as they are tasty.”
Serving a modern twist on the traditional notations of breakfast, you can expect to tuck into dishes like avocado toast, a ‘Wakey Wakey Bowl’ and chorizo burritos, as well as freshly pressed juices and a range of American iced coffees. This popular spot is perfect for lovers of an atheistically pleasing dining experience.
“The Sanctum was founded on the idea that healthy food can also be wildly well-prepared.”
Sitting quietly on Fern Creek Avenue, the atmosphere inside The Sanctum Café is anything but timid. Bursting with colours and flavours, the range of vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free dishes they serve has made them a hot-spot for locals and tourists alike.
We spoke to Chelsie, who alongside her husband Jamie owns that café. She explained why plant-based ingredients are so important to the breakfast dishes they create: “With breakfast being the first meal of the day, it’s so important that it is healthy to start your day off on the right foot.
“At The Sanctum, our chef is not only a chef, but also a clinical and holistic nutritionist, so “healthy” is not just a trigger word we throw around but something we actually understand and can execute. We design every menu item with health in mind and are intentional in every product we source from the spices we use, to the flours and sugars we source to the types of oil we use (and don’t use). The Sanctum is unique in that it is able to offer you food that you can actually trust. You can taste and feel the difference.”
Once you’ve secured your Orlando park tickets, the next thing to start thinking about is which of the delicious breakfast offerings are you going to try first. No matter what your plans are, it’s going to be magical. Let the Disney adventure begin.
