Friday Theme Park Round Up!
Find out what's new at Universal, Gatorland and the Disney parks this week!
This week Gatorland announces a new attraction, About.com nominates Universal for another award and a certain celebrity hangs out with the minions at Universal Studios and turnstiles slowly disappear at the gates of Disney World parks!

To round off the week and see the weekend in, here's Attraction Tickets Direct's Friday theme park round up!

We're going to begin with some news on Gatorland; It's not often that this theme park that makes the Floridian gator its main attraction features on ATD's Latest News,  but we've heard some news that animal fans will be delighted to hear. A new $20,000 attraction comes to Gatorland called Panther Springs, featuring brother and sister panthers Neiko and Lucy.  The siblings will be living in a 2,000 square foot open air habitat giving Gatorland guests the opportunity to learn about the Florida Panther. Panther Springs is due to open in April!

Earlier on in the week Pretty Woman heart throb and presenter of this year's Academy Awards Richard Gere hung out with the Despicable Me minions at Universal Studios. The actor visited the park with friends and family and posed with the much loved minions after riding Universal's Despicable Me Minion Mayhem attraction.

More news at Universal Orlando Resort. Universal's Cinematic Spectacular 100 Years of Movie Memories nighttime lagoon show has been nominated for About.com's Readers Choice Awards Best New Theme Park Show of 2012. To make sure Universal's Cinematic Spectacular wins this category you can place your vote on About.com's website. Voting closes on the 19th March!

There's even more magic arriving at the Disney parks; the turnstiles at Disney World are slowly disappearing and being replaced with touch points that feature the Mickey Mouse logo which turns green when a valid Disney ticket is touched against it. This new magical touch point eliminates the very generic and less than magical theme park turnstiles. This is part of Disney's new 'MyMagic+' project, that will be implementing all kinds of high tech features into the parks, like the 'MagicBand' that'll act as a park entry pass,  a hotel room key and a wallet!
