We wrote about the rumours behind this story as recently as May this year, so we know this was already a very popular concept and we’re sure that Star Wars and Disney fans alike will be excited to hear it confirmed. This statement, straight from the horse’s mouth, indicates to what scale and standard this new hotel is going to interpret the film franchise…
“It’s unlike anything that exists today.” Bob Chapek, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman, said. “From the second you arrive, you will become a part of a Star Wars story! You’ll immediately become a citizen of the galaxy and experience all that entails, including dressing up in the proper attire. Once you leave Earth, you will discover a starship alive with characters, stories, and adventures that unfold all around you. It is 100% immersive, and the story will touch every single minute of your day, and it will culminate in a unique journey for every person who visits.”
The new hotel is expected to be sold on a multi-night basis so that guests can be properly immersed in the narrative of their stay as, well as giving them the chance to rub shoulders with their favourite characters from the films. ‘On board’ (i.e. in the hotel), guests will be able to try out lightsaber duelling and piloting a space craft while ‘in park’ the experience is continued as guests enter the brand new immersive Star Wars land (opening 2019).
