1. Take some serious selfies
A Disney holiday wouldn’t be complete without taking a photo in front of the iconic Cinderella Castle. There are plenty of picture-perfect photo opportunities throughout the resort, so make sure you’ve got your phone handy to snap those selfies. The Tree of Life, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ and Epcot’s Spaceship Earth are also great selfie spots and of course, you'll want to take a selfie with your favourite Character.
2. Meet your favourite Characters
There are so many Character encounters at Walt Disney World Resort, from meet and greets with Disney icons Mickey & Minnie Mouse, to encounters with Anna & Elsa. Magic Kingdom Park is a great place to meet classic Disney Characters. Epcot is the best place to meet Disney Princesses. Disney's Hollywood Studios is where you’ll encounter Star Wars™ Characters and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park is where you'll see Disney Characters all dressed up in their safari outfits.
3. Watch the fireworks
Disney are famous for many things, but their dazzling firework displays are some of the best in the world. Watching the fireworks light up the night sky is the perfect way to end a day of exploring the parks. The Happily Ever After fireworks at Magic Kingdom Park is a must-see for Disney superfans as it takes place right above the Cinderella Castle.
If you’re a Star Wars™ fan, you’ll want to watch the Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular firework display at Disney's Hollywood Studios. It features iconic scenes from the movies as well as the epic soundtrack.
4. Attend a celebration
Walt Disney World Resort is magical no matter what time of year, but if you visit during the holidays you’ll get to experience a different kind of Disney magic. The Disney Parks really know how to celebrate in style and undergo special makeovers for Easter, Halloween and Christmas. Visiting during the holidays is definitely something you won’t forget.
Epcot is also famous for its fantastic festivals, like the International Food & Wine Festival, International Flower & Garden Festival and the International Festival of the Arts. Make sure you check what’s on during your visit and if you get the chance, join in the festival fun.
5. Search for hidden Mickey’s
Did you know, that there are hidden Mickey’s all over the Walt Disney World Resort? If you look carefully, you’ll find miniature Mickey’s in all kinds of places, from ride queues to artwork, bathrooms and everywhere in between. Why not see how many you can find during your visit?
6. Admire the amazing animals
At Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, you can get closer to nature on the Maharajah Jungle Trek. This amazing experience lets you get up close to the incredible animals that call this place home. You’ll be able to explore a Mystical Forest, cross towering footbridges, roam around jungle bends, behold cascading waterfalls and stand in the shadow of a palace frozen in time. Then, discover a chirping aviary where over 50 species of birds soar free.
As well as the graceful Asian tigers, you may encounter: Gibbons, Elds deer, Water Buffalo, Blackbuck, Malayan flying fox and Komodo dragon. Don’t miss the chance to see these beautiful animals for yourself.
7. Try the famous food
The Disney theme parks are known for having some pretty famous foods including pretzels, turkey legs and Mickey-shaped snacks like Mickey waffles and Mickey ice creams. Although, one of our favourite sweet treats at Walt Disney World has to be the Dole Whip.
This mouth-watering, pineapple-flavoured soft-serve is one of the most popular Disney snacks. You can also get a Dole Whip float which is served in a glass of pineapple juice and topped with a maraschino cherry. If you want to see what all the fuss is about make sure you give it a try and see how many other Disney snacks you can sample during your visit.
8. Watch a show
Or two or three or four! There are so many amazing shows at Walt Disney World Resort, so we’d recommend trying to see as many as you can during your visit. The entertainment at the Disney Theme Parks is world class and you’re guaranteed to have fun. There are shows inspired by Frozen, Finding Nemo, Star Wars™, The Muppets and many more.
With so many great shows to see it’s almost impossible to choose a favourite, although the Festival of the Lion King has a place in our heart. This colourful performance features lots of familiar faces, an impressive acrobatic routine, a fire-knife dancer and all the hit songs from the movie. You’ll be singing along in no time.
9. Travel around the world
Epcot’s World Showcase is made up of 11 different countries. There’s so much to see, as each country has its own unique entertainment, traditional food and iconic landmarks that you’ll instantly recognise. You could spend a whole day at the park just exploring the different countries without going on a single ride.
Enjoy a hearty serving of fish and chips in England, watch a Mariachi band perform in Mexico and take a selfie in front of the Eiffel Tower in France. Make the most of the opportunity to discover the World Showcase, because after all, where else can you take a trip around the world in a day?
10. Shop
If you want to indulge in a spot of retail therapy, Disney Springs is the place to go. There are more than 100 shops to explore including Coach, Havaianas, Lacoste, Levi’s, Pandora, Sephora, UGG, Zara and World of Disney- the biggest Disney store in the world!
