Walt Disney World’s Electrical Parade to End This Year
Catch the twinkle of the Electrical Parade one last time…
News broke on the Disney Parks blog last night that the long-standing Electrical Parade at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom will soon be coming to end.

The Main Street Electric Parade has been a firm favourite with Walt Disney World and Disneyland California guests ever since it began in its original format of the Electrical Water Pageant at Disneyland California more than 45 years ago. It came to the Magic Kingdom in 1977 and ran for 24 years before returning for 2 years for the Magic Kingdom Millennium Celebration and again in 2010 where it has run ever since.

The show has had a number of different incarnations since moving from the Water Pageant and has been shipped all over the world to other locations like Parc Disneyland and Disneyland Tokyo. The common theme throughout is bright lights – and lots of them! Each individual float is covered in hundreds of tiny lights which shine brightly after the sun goes down and illuminate the characters.

The show is currently a revamped version of the original parade, which includes the Snow White diamond float and the Pinocchio float which were temporarily removed from the show in previous runs. The parade is now lead by Tinker Bell, who lights the way for the glowing and glittering parade which features the iconic Disney characters waving from spinning floats. It’s truly like nothing you’ve ever seen before, so make sure to get to the parade before it ends!

The parade will be temporarily moved to Disneyland California for a short run after it ends at The Magic Kingdom in 2 months’ time, which has led to speculation that the Disneyland California parade ‘Paint the Night’ will come to the Magic Kingdom…Whether this is true or not, we know that Disney must have something truly magical up its sleeve as a replacement for this much-loved parade.

The parade is set to end on the 9th October 2016, so if you’re visiting Orlando this autumn make sure you catch this iconic parade one last time. Or, see it at Disneyland California from this date!
