What's New at the Parks this Week!
SeaWorld, Universal and the Disney Parks in a week!
This week Tina Fey made a visit to Disney World, Rod Stewart hung out at Disneyland, SeaWorld announced the opening date of new attraction Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin and one of Universal Orlando's newest attractions has been nominated for an award! See what's new in the parks this week!

This week we introduced you to a number of our other destinations that we provide attraction tickets to here at Attraction Tickets Direct, so we thought we'd better catch you up with what's been happening at the theme parks and make sure you don't miss out on your Disney dose.

Yesterday SeaWorld revealed the opening date of the highly anticipated Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin. The soon to be opened attraction will launch on the 24th May at SeaWorld Orlando.  Literally one of the coolest rides to hit Orlando. This attraction will immerse you into the freezing, blistering cold weather conditions of the Penguin's habitat, the South Pole, and take you on a blizzarding journey through penguin colonies from the very perspective of these cool birds!

Behind the Scenes Tour of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad's Queue

Disney Imagineers have been working on making the queue for Magic Kingdom's Big Thunder Mountain Railroad part of the Big Thunder narrative. The new queue will extend on the story of Barnabas T Bullion, the founder and president of Big Thunder Mining Company, allowing you to peek inside the mountain's Mining Office, the Explosives Magazine Room and possibly even get your hands dirty by doing some mining yourselves! The new queue will make the entire Big Thunder Mountain Railroad a more conclusive and captivating experience, from start to finish. Check out the behind the scenes tour to see what's in store!

Earlier on in the week rock icon Rod Stewart took his family to Disneyland California Adventure park to treat his son to a birthday celebration at the happiest place on earth. Rod and family stopped to say 'Hi' to Goofy and pose for a picture on the Red Car Trolley. However, Rod's Disneyland experience wasn't complete till he blew the Red Car Trolley 623's whistle!

Another celebrity was spotted brushing shoulders with Disney royalty over at Disney World's Epcot park. Comedic actress Tina Fey, who's starred alongside Steve Carrell in rom-com movie Date Night and voices Roxanne Ricthie in Megamind the movie, strolled through Epcot's Germany Pavillion, where she bumped into Snow White and took a snap with the Disney Princess.

Last but by no means least, we head over to Universal Studios Orlando for some news that'll make Minion fans particularly proud. Universal's Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem has been nominated for About.com's 2013 Readers' Choice Awards for the Best New Theme Park Attraction of 2012. Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem came to Universal Studios last year as part of Universal's 'Year to be Here' One hundredth anniversary celebration. The winners will be announced on the 27th May 2013!
