What’s Coming to Orlando in 2019?
8 new attractions and dining experiences...
2019 is shaping up to be a huge year for the Orlando theme parks! Here's just some of the most-anticipated attractions...

Star Wars Land

Construction is already taking place to build the most hotly-anticipated expansion to an Orlando theme park since The Wizarding World of Harry Potter (if not ever!) at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is a brand new, fully immersive land opening in the park with an accompanying themed hotel (opening later) that will be the ultimate experience for Star Wars fans.

The new land will feature two brand new rides, including one that takes place on the Millennium Falcon, as well as a new market place and dining options. Speculation is rife that the new hotel will immerse guests in an interactive role-playing environment in the same way you might join a cruise for a few days and then spend the rest of your holiday at another resort. The Star Wars hotel will be located right next to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge but we are unsure of when this new resort will be available to book at this stage although we know it won't be opening at the same time as the new land.

When? Late Autumn 2019

Where? Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort

Harry Potter Coaster

Unfortunately, there aren’t a lot of details yet about this brand-new attraction in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade, but what we have heard tells us it’s going to be one of the ‘most highly-themed coaster experiences’ ever seen at the park. Universal’s creative team have indicated that guests will spot many familiar faces and magical creatures on this ride which have lead to some speculation that it could be based on a trip to The Forbidden Forest.

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway

The first ever Mickey-themed ride is FINALLY coming to Walt Disney World! Opening next year at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway will take riders on a spin through the ‘wacky and unpredictable’ world of the Mickey Mouse cartoons.

Using ‘2 and a half D’ technology (which means you don’t need to wear special glasses by the way) Disney will be able to bring to life the incredible animations and spectacular visual effects of the attraction.

LEGO Movie World

LEGO Movie Land

The biggest expansion to LEGOLAND Florida EVER is coming in 2019 with the opening of The LEGO Movie World in 2019. The new expansion will replace the World of Chima but will also be bigger and better than the previous land, adding lots more fun to the LEGOLAND park. This new world will be based on the incredible LEGO Movie, which took cinemas by storm and was popular with little kids and big kids alike.

Don’t miss the opportunity to hang out with some of your favourite characters from the film, including Emmet and Wyldstyle, as well as to ride the revamped interactive boat ride which will become the key attraction of the new land.

When? March 27th, 2019.

Sesame Street Land

It’s not just Disney and LEGOLAND who have big plans for next year though, SeaWorld are also getting in on the action! If you’re travelling with little ones, you’ll want to make a beeline for Sesame Street Land when it opens at SeaWorld Orlando next year. Discover the fun, vibrant world of Sesame Street as you explore familiar locations such as Mr Hooper’s store, Abby Cadabby’s garden and Big Bird’s nest. There will also be the chance to meet some of your little ones’ favourite characters and to snap some pictures with Elmo at the gang.

Finally, don’t miss the all-new Sesame Street parade, the first daily parade at the SeaWorld park, which will feature all your favourite characters and more!

Space Restaurant

This new out-of-this-world dining option will be installed next to Mission: Space – and that’s about all we know so far!

Space Restaurant - Epcot

However, from the above concept art we can see that diners will truly feel that they are having a cosmic dining experience far away from a theme park dining area! This new restaurant comes as Disney revamps all its parks in the run up to its 50th anniversary in 2021.

Disney Skyliner

Next year, there will also be a brand-new way to travel in style around the Walt Disney World resort. The Disney Skyliner will connect the Caribbean Beach, Pop Century and Art of Animation Resorts to Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios when it opens in summer 2019.

Cabins will be decorated in different Disney themes which include iconic characters, rides and films while the gondola stations will be designed around the park or hotel they’re stationed in. It certainly beats taking the bus to work in the morning!

Lightning McQueen Racing Academy

Finally, the most recent announcement for 2019 is Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy – an exhilarating new show based on the popular ‘Cars’ film franchise. The star of the show is, of course, Lightning McQueen himself and he can’t wait to show off all the impressive skills he’s learned!

Lightning Mcqueen

As always with Lightning, things don’t quite go to plan and it’s left up to friends Tow Mater, Cruz Ramirez and the rest of Radiator Springs to get him out of a pickle once again!

Disney have described the new show as a ‘high-octane first-of-a-kind’ show, so definitely one to look out for.
