Get ready to explore the seas in San Diego!
Not to be outdone by their counterparts in Orlando, SeaWorld California have released plans for an incredible new attraction in 2017 that will have guests face to face with amazing sea creatures!
If 2016 looks set to be the year of the rollercoaster for SeaWorld’s parks in Florida, with Mako opening at SeaWorld Orlando and Cobra’s Curse at Busch Garden’s Tampa Bay, then 2017 will see things in California go back to the aquatic roots of the parks.
The new Ocean Explorer attraction will combine multiple aquariums, rides and digital technologies to engage guests in a totally unique experience that hopes to inspire them to protect the seas through exploration and adventure. There will be multiple ‘research pods’ throughout the attraction, each boasting educational displays, technologies and graphics to enrich the overall experience.
Climbing aboard their submarine, guests will assume the role of adventurers on a global expedition of scientific exploration to collect data and learn how they can help to protect animals. As you would expect from SeaWorld, the range of creatures you are likely to see is varied and impressive, with giant octopuses, huge spider crabs and hundreds of jellyfish just some of the sea creatures to be looking out for.
In addition to the underwater fun, SeaWorld have announced plans for three family friendly rides within the attraction, including an exhilarating wave swinger that have guests flying through thousands of bubbles in a chair suspended from the tentacle of a giant jellyfish…we’re assuming (hoping) that this is to be a man-made jellyfish!
Here at ATD we can’t wait to get out to California to go and try this amazing attraction that once again helps to educate guests on the incredible conservation efforts at SeaWorld’s parks in a fun and informative way.
