SeaWorld San Diego Celebrates its 48th Birthday

SeaWorld San Diego Celebrates its 48th Birthday
48 years ago the first SeaWorld theme park opened up to the world!
SeaWorld San Diego is the original SeaWorld park, paving the way for all the miraculous marine entertainment and education we see today. Yesterday, 21st March, SeaWorld San Diego turned 48 years old!

We were shocked to hear that SeaWorld San Diego didn’t throw a huge birthday bash for those with their SeaWorld tickets yesterday. Instead the park modestly turned forty eight with very little fuss. Of course, there is little doubt that a splashing good time is in store for the big five zero in a couple of years.

The SeaWorld concept was born from the dream of four UCLA friends. They had initially wanted to create an underwater restaurant, but that idea soon developed into 22 acres of land, two aquariums, a couple of sea lions and dolphins and 45 members of staff. In the first year of opening, more than 400,000 visitors visited the SeaWorld with their SeaWorld tickets.

Today SeaWorld plays a fundamental role in the conservation and preservation of the marine world and is famed for its amazing shows, unique and innovative animal encounters and of course, the world famous killer whale Shamu family.

Happy Birthday SeaWorld!
