The lucky ones amongst you that have been fortunate enough to escape the blistering British cold for a week or two at any of the American Disney Parks will have noticed an emerging Tangled presence in both park's Fantasyland themed areas. At Disneyland California's Fantasy Faire, which officially opens to the public today, against the back drop of the Tangled tower, Tangled tales will be told at the Royal Theatre and guests will be able to meet the long haired Princess in the Royal Hall.
At Walt Disney World Florida's recently expanded New Fantasyland, in the Magic Kingdom Park, a Tangled inspired rest area appeared over the weekend, again complete with the expected Tangled tower. This peaceful addition to Walt Disney World's New Fantasyland doesn't feature any rides, character meet and greets or attractions of any kind - it merely offers a place to rest and respite in a settiing that stays in line with the 'Once Upon a Time and Happily Ever After' magic of the remaining Fantasyland. Something we consider especially magical at this Tangled rest area, as will the social media butterflies amongst you, are some sneaky little plug sockets that allow you to charge up your ever important mobile, so you can stay connected and continue to show off and share your Disney experience!
So, although we all love this long haired Princess, how much do we really know about the Walt Disney Pictures Tangled and the film's protagonist Rapunzel?
Tangled's Release Date
Walt Disney Pictures Tangled was released in cinemas in 2010 and is the 50th addition to the Walt Disney Animated Classics. It's predecessor was the Princess and the Frog released in 2009.
Rapunzel - a Brothers Grimm Fairy - tale
This computer animated Disney film is loosely based on the German fairy tale Rapunzel, published in 1812 by the kings of fairy stories, the Brothers Grimm. Disney's Tangled isn't the first Brothers Grimm fairy tale that Walt Disney Pictures has adapted for film, Cinderella and Snow White are also adaptations of Brothers Grimm tales.
How long is Rapunzel's hair?
Tangled's Rapunzel's long golden hair is made up of more than 100, 000 individual strands of 70 foot long hair. That's double the height of Walt Disney World's Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.
How tall is the Tangled tower?
The famous Tangled tower in the Walt Disney Picture is rumoured to be 73 feet, 4 inches tall. That's just long enough for 'Rapunzel to let down her long hair'!
Tangled was initially going to be titled Rapunzel Unbraided, however Disney feared that this title would exclude the male audience and decided to opt for the name Tangled instead.
The Voices Behind the Animation
Rapunzel is voiced by American singer-songwriter and actress Mandy Moore, who sings Tangled's award winning duet 'I See the Light,' alongside American actor and singer Zachery Levi, who voices Flynn Rider and stars alongside Martin Lawrence in Big Momma's House 2.
Award Winning Song 'I See the Light' Composed by Alan Menken
I See the Light was awarded a Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media and Best Song at the Las Vegas Film Critics Society in 2011.
