As the largest theme park ticket seller in the world, we are hugely excited to announce that we are planning the development of a new multi-million pound theme park to open in Central London in 2022.
After celebrating our 10 year anniversary in 2012, we have decided that our 20th should be extra special, so will be working closely with local authorities and the world’s leading theme park designers to launch the world’s first urban theme park, with rides taking in some of the most recognisable landmarks on earth. Tourist numbers to London are expected to soar in the coming years following on from the success and global coverage of the Olympic Games and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations in the summer of 2012.
In addition to the year round theme park rides, there are plans for a fantastic new water park on the South Bank that will utilise the latest water slide technology. A large area of the Thames is to be sectioned off with the water heated to maximise the enjoyment for riders.
Planned rides to date include
- Converting the Gherkin into the largest helter-skelter in the world
- An inverted rollercoaster that twists and turns above the streets of Soho
- A large log flume in Hyde Park that finishes with a thrilling plunge into the Serpentine
- Adding a swing ride to the top of the BT Tower, giving spectacular views over the city
- A high speed lift drop ride in the Shard
- Using disused London Underground tunnels for a ‘Black Hole’ style rollercoaster
- A haunted house ride through the Houses of Parliament
Speaking on the planned new park, a spokesman for Attraction Tickets Direct said “We believe that nobody loves theme parks as much as us and our customers, so having the opportunity to work on developing a world class theme park in the heart of London is a unique and hugely exciting.”
“The London Eye has become one of the most iconic and highly visited attractions in London, and we believe that these plans to add in even more top class attractions will prove just as popular. We Brits have a huge passion for thrill rides, and having served over 2.5 million happy customers since forming in 2002, we have seen this desire first hand.”
“We are thrilled to be planning the construction of the world’s first urban theme park, which we believe will cement London’s place as the most exciting and dynamic city in the world – plus it’ll be close to the office so we can go after work!”
In addition to being a paradise for thrill seekers, there are proposed benefits exclusively for commuters. Plans include creating a network of high speed, high capacity above ground rollercoasters to connect key transport hubs such as Victoria Station, Tottenham Court Road, Kings Cross and Paddington, that could reduce journey times by up to 75%.
