Today (March 7th) Disney announced the dates for both Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge lands opening in Walt Disney World and Disneyland California. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be opening at Disneyland California on May 31st, 2019 and at Walt Disney World on August 29th, 2019 – much earlier than we expected!
Watch this video from Disney to find out more about this new land:
Guests visiting Disneyland California after May 31st will be able to experience phase 1 only of the park's expansion, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, before the second phase of opening later in the year, which will see visitors be allowed into Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. During this initial phase 1, guests will need to make a reservation to experience the new land to make sure that guest experience is kept at it's highest level. Reservations are free, but guests of course must have valid theme park admission. Due to high demand, access to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is not guaranteed.
At this time, there are no plans to introduce a reservation system for Walt Disney World when the new land opens at Disney's Hollywood Studios in August, according to the Disney Parks blog.
Please note: Capacity is limited. Access to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and its experiences may be restricted or unavailable depending on guest demand and other factors. Disney FastPass+ service is initially unavailable for the attractions in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will not be available at the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and will open later this year.
