Scarefest dates: September (26th-27th) and runs through October 2nd-4th, 9th-11th, 16th October – 1st November 2026.

As nights get longer, get ready for creepy scares, shocks, and thrills as Alton Towers Resort celebrates the return of award-winning Scarefest with frantically funny and seriously spooky attractions for all ages. Open until 9.00 pm, prepare for adrenaline-fuelled thrills! Experience world-class rides in the dark, including The Smiler, Nemesis Reborn, and Toxicator, plus terrifying scare attractions for the fearless. There’s spooky fun for the whole family too – from favourites like Runaway Mine Train and Wicker Man to family friendly spooktacular attractions. One day just isn’t enough! Alton Towers Theme Park opens for the 2026 season on 14th March 2026 and will be open daily until 8th November 2026. Alton Towers opens at 10.00 am with closing times varying throughout the year.

Alton Towers Resort WaterPark is open all year round (the outdoor area is closed on selected dates) from 10.00 am, with closing times varying throughout the year.

  • Your Alton Towers Ticket is only valid for the date selected at the time of booking and cannot be used on any other date.
  • Persons under 90cm go FREE.  If your child is under 90cm, they can visit Alton Towers Theme Park for free with the purchase of an individual online ticket.  This must be collected at the attraction.
  • Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Parks, attractions or entertainment may change operating hours, close due to refurbishing, capacity, weather, or special events, and may otherwise change or be discontinued without notice and without liability.
  • Height and age restrictions apply on certain rides.

     The general admission ticket will allow you access to over 50 rides and attractions within the park. Special events are excluded from this such as Halloween scare mazes during Scarefest. The waterpark is also a separate ticket to this.

  • Can Alton Towers tickets be scanned from a phone?

    Absolutely! Our Alton Towers Tickets are mobile-friendly meaning you can download your tickets from your customer account straight to your smartphone and scan them at the turnstiles. If you do not have a smartphone, simply print your tickets in advance and scan the ticket printout instead. 

  • Can you enter Alton Towers Scarefest with normal ticket?

    Yes, however the scare mazes and addition attractions is a separate upcharge so is not included in the general admission tickets. If you would like to book this you would be able to on their website or on the day.

    Yes, there are lockers for any loose items as these cannot be taken on the rides. Small Lockers are from £1 per hour or £5 per day and large Lockers are from £2 per hour or £10 per day. You can revisit the locker throughout the day at no additional charge.

    Alton Towers do offer concessions for carers when purchasing an admission ticket. Proof of disability will need to be shown at the Ticket Office

    Yes, although there are some steep inclines through the park where some assistance may be needed. A lot of the park has faster routes including steps, with an alternative ramp access signposted.

    Alton Towers is based on Farley Lane, Alton, Stoke-on-Trent ST10 4DB in Staffordshire. You can travel by car, by the X41bus daily from Stafford & Uttoxeter or via train. The closest stations are Uttoxeter or Stoke-On-Trent although you will need to book a taxi from the station.
