8 magical ways to enjoy Disneyland® Paris, come rain or shine.
Make the most of a rainy day at Disneyland® Paris with spectacular indoor shows, sheltered rides, cosy restaurants and our top tips on what to pack.

Rain in the forecast for your Disneyland® Paris trip? Don't let it dampen your spirits! There's a world of magic to enjoy under cover, with spectacular indoor shows, attractions that keep you snug from start to finish, and restaurants where you can dine with Disney Characters while the showers pass by.

Disneyland® Paris was designed with the Paris weather in mind, so it's brilliantly set up for rainy days. We've rounded up 8 of the best things to do at Disneyland® Paris in the rain, plus two bonus ideas and our top tips for staying dry, getting around and packing like a pro. You can't guarantee the weather, but you can guarantee a magical time!

Key takeaways:

  • Most of the fun carries on in light rain. Indoor attractions and shows run as normal, and outdoor rides such as Big Thunder Mountain usually keep running in everyday showers, pausing only for storms, strong winds or very heavy rain.
  • Indoor shows such as The Lion King: Rhythms of the Pride Lands show, Mickey and the Magician and TOGETHER: a Pixar Musical Adventure give you around half an hour of dazzling, dry entertainment.
  • Character Dining at Auberge de Cendrillon, Royal Banquet, La Table de Lumière and The Regal View Restaurant & Lounge is a lovely way to meet Disney Characters indoors.
  • Liberty Arcade and Discovery Arcade are two covered walkways running alongside Main Street, U.S.A.®, perfect for staying dry as you explore.
  • Rainy days are often some of the calmer days in the Disney Parks, so they can be a great time to enjoy your top attractions.
  • The official Disneyland® Paris app shows live attraction updates and show times, so keep it handy throughout the day.

What's the weather like at Disneyland® Paris?

Paris sees around roughly 110 days a year with at least 1 mm of rain and only around 16 days a year bring heavier rain of 10 mm or more. That means a typical rainy day at Disneyland® Paris is more drizzle than downpour, with plenty of drier spells in between.

December usually has the most rainy days (around 11), while July has the fewest (around 7). Summer showers tend to be short and warm, while autumn and winter days are cooler and damper, so layers are your best friend from November to February.

Our expert tip: Disneyland® Paris is around 32 km east of central Paris, so check the forecast for Marne-la-Vallée rather than Paris itself for the most accurate picture.

Do rides and shows close in the rain at Disneyland® Paris?

In light or moderate rain, most of Disneyland® Paris carries on as normal. Indoor attractions and theatre shows run whatever the weather, and many outdoor rides, including Big Thunder Mountain, keep running in everyday showers.

Disneyland® Paris may pause some attractions for safety in heavy rain or high winds, and outdoor favourites such as Big Thunder Mountain, Indiana Jones™ and the Temple of Peril, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Orbitron®, Autopia® and RC Racer can take a short break during a thunderstorm. They reopen once the weather has passed.

Parades and nighttime shows

In light rain, Disney Stars on Parade often runs in a special modified version, with performers in ponchos. In heavier rain or wind, it may be delayed, shortened or rescheduled. On some past rainy days, Disney Characters have come out in ponchos for a special rainy day cavalcade, which is a lovely bonus if you spot one!

The nighttime spectaculars, Disney Tales of Magic in Disneyland® Park and Disney Cascade of Lights in Disney Adventure World, carry on in light rain. Both use drones, which appear when the weather allows, so on a windy evening the show may be adapted. The two shows run at the same time, so pick your favourite for the evening!

Our expert tip: The official Disneyland® Paris app updates throughout the day with attraction status and show times, so it's the best place to check before you head to an outdoor ride or show.

Why a rainy day at Disneyland® Paris can be a happy surprise

Rainy days are often some of the calmer days in the Disney Parks, as many visitors arrive later or head off early. That makes a wet day a lovely chance to enjoy your top attractions at a more relaxed pace.

Our advice is to arrive at opening time as you normally would, enjoy the outdoor rides during drier spells, and save the indoor attractions and shows for the heaviest showers.

1. Enjoy a spectacular indoor show

Watching one of the incredible indoor shows at Disneyland® Paris is one of the best ways to enjoy a rainy day. With live singing, dancing, acrobatics, special effects and much-loved Disney Characters, these productions wouldn't look out of place in the West End!

ShowWhere to find itWhat to expect
The Lion King: Rhythms of the Pride Lands showFrontierland Theatre, Disneyland® ParkA vibrant, acrobatic celebration of the music of The Lion King
Mickey's PhilharMagicDiscoveryland Theatre, Disneyland® ParkA magical 3D film adventure through classic Disney songs

TOGETHER: a Pixar Musical AdventureStudio Theater presented by Babybel®, Disney Adventure WorldA musical journey through the worlds of Pixar
Stitch Live!Disney Adventure WorldA fun, interactive show where Stitch chats with the audience

Planning a visit in the new year? Mickey and the Magician runs until 10 January 2027, when the Animagique® Theater begins a major refurbishment, and the show will take a break for the whole of 2027. Make sure you catch it on a trip before then!

Shows sometimes take short scheduled breaks during the year, so check the day's show times in the official Disneyland® Paris app. Indoor shows are especially popular on rainy days, so we'd recommend arriving around 40 minutes before the start time to find a great seat. Theatre doors can close around 5 minutes before some shows begin, so give yourself plenty of time.

2. Ride the indoor attractions

Disneyland® Paris has a brilliant choice of indoor attractions, from family-friendly dark rides to thrilling coasters in the dark. Many of them have indoor or covered waiting areas too, so you can stay snug from the moment you join the line until you step off the ride.

Mostly sheltered from start to finish:

Frozen Ever After has a wonderful indoor waiting area that winds through rooms and corridors. On busier days, you may first wait outside to enter World of Frozen itself, so keep your waterproofs on until you're inside.

Indoor rides where part of the waiting area is outdoors

Phantom Manor in Frontierland, and Peter Pan's Flight and "it's a small world" in Fantasyland are all wonderful indoor rides, where part of the waiting area is outdoors or only partly covered. Keep your poncho or waterproof jacket on until you're inside and you'll be all set!

On busy days, some of the larger attractions in both Disney Parks may also use an outdoor overflow area, so we'd suggest keeping your waterproofs on until you board.

Tip: Heavy shower on the way? Head for Pirates of the Caribbean or one of the shows in idea 1. Light drizzle or a dry spell? It's a great moment for outdoor favourites such as Big Thunder Mountain.

Our guide to the best rides at Disneyland® Paris has more ideas for every age.

3. Dine with the Disney Characters

Character Dining is the perfect rainy day treat, giving you a warm, relaxed meal with Disney Characters coming to your table. It's an unforgettable experience for little ones and grown-ups alike.

The Regal View Restaurant & Lounge opened in 2026 as part of the new Disney Adventure World, with spectacular views and Disney Princesses, such as Belle, Aurora, Ariel, Jasmine, Merida and Mulan, visiting in outfits created especially for Disneyland® Paris.

Breakfast at Auberge de Cendrillon has two seatings: an early one during Extra Magic Time for Disney Hotel guests and eligible Annual Pass holders, and a later one open to everyone with a reservation. Disney Characters rotate at each restaurant, so you might meet different friends on each visit.

Plaza Gardens Restaurant on Main Street, U.S.A.® is currently being renovated, with a fresh new look and a lower buffet designed especially for children, and it's set to welcome guests back in 2027.

Character Dining is very popular, so we'd recommend booking as soon as you can. You can reserve a table up to two months before your visit, and if you're staying at a Disney Hotel, you can book as soon as your stay is confirmed. Our guide to Character Dining at Disneyland® Paris has all the details.

4. Settle in for a long lunch

When you're making the most of every minute, it's easy to grab a quick bite on the go. A rainy day is the perfect excuse to slow down, rest your feet and enjoy a leisurely meal somewhere warm and cosy.

We'd recommend booking Table-Service restaurants in advance through the official Disneyland® Paris app, especially on rainy days. If you haven't booked, check the app on the day, as tables become available when other guests change their plans, and try eating a little earlier or later than the lunchtime peak. City Hall in Disneyland® Park, Guest Relations in Disney Adventure World and your hotel concierge can help you find a table too.

The Regal View Lounge is also a lovely spot for a drink and a bite to eat, with no reservation needed.

Quick-Service restaurants with indoor seating

No reservation needed for these, so they're ideal for a spontaneous warm-up:

  • Café Hyperion hosted by Coca-Cola in Discoveryland has one of the largest indoor dining halls at Disneyland® Park, beneath a giant airship, with a big screen to keep everyone entertained. It's our go-to spot for a dry break on a wet day.
  • Colonel Hathi's Outpost Restaurant hosted by San Pellegrino in Adventureland serves Asian-inspired dishes in a jungle setting.
  • Pizzeria Bella Notte in Fantasyland is a cosy Italian spot inspired by Lady and the Tramp.
  • Cowboy Cookout Barbecue in Frontierland serves smoky barbecue in a lively, barn-style dining hall.
  • Restaurant Hakuna Matata in Adventureland opens on selected days, so check the app's dining hours on the day.

If you're adding a Meal Plan to your Disney Hotel stay, our complete guide to Disneyland® Paris Meal Plans explains which restaurants are included.

5. Meet Disney Characters indoors

Meeting Disney Characters is a highlight of any trip, and several of the most popular Character Encounters take place indoors:

  • Meet Mickey Mouse in Fantasyland, Disneyland® Park, where you'll meet magician Mickey backstage in his dressing room.
  • Princess Pavilion in Fantasyland, Disneyland® Park, for a royal moment with a Disney Princess.
  • Darth Vader at Starport in Discoveryland, Disneyland® Park, for a meeting with the Sith Lord himself.
  • Royal Encounter inside Arendelle Castle in World of Frozen, Disney Adventure World, where Anna and Elsa welcome you to their castle.

For these popular Encounters, you'll reserve a time through the official Disneyland® Paris app on the day of your visit, once you've scanned your ticket at the park entrance. Places are limited, so book as early in the day as you can.

Character locations and times change regularly, so the app is the best place to see who's out and about. Our guide to how Character meet and greets work at Disneyland® Paris has more tips.

6. Join the Animation Academy

If you've ever fancied yourself as a Disney artist, the Animation Academy is a must-do on a rainy day. You'll find it inside the Animation Celebration building in World Premiere Plaza, Disney Adventure World.

In this fun drawing class, a Disney artist shows you step by step how to draw a well-loved Disney Character, and you get to keep your masterpiece as a souvenir.

Each class lasts around 30 minutes, and places are limited, so arrive early to grab a seat. Check the official Disneyland® Paris app for the day's session times.

7. Catch a film and shop at Disney Village®

Disney Village®, just outside the Disney Parks, is a great place to spend a rainy evening, and you don't need a park ticket to visit.

Cosy up at the cinema

The 15-screen cinema at Disney Village® shows the latest blockbusters, with an IMAX® Laser screen (one of the largest multiplex screens in France) and a 4DX screen for an extra-immersive experience. It's being transformed into Pathé Disney Village, with the work taking place in phases until 2027 so the cinema stays mostly open.

Check the language before you book

Many films are shown in French (marked VF, version française), and plenty of English-language films also have screenings in their original language with French subtitles (marked VO or VOST, version originale sous-titrée). Look for the VO tag next to each screening on the cinema's website or app before you buy your tickets.

Shop under cover

Disney Village® is home to World of Disney, The LEGO® Store and the brand-new Disney Wonders store, which opened in September 2026 with themed areas for Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars, and two sparkling chandeliers featuring more than 40 illustrations. The street that links them is open-air, so pop your hood up as you hop from shop to shop.

8. Head back to your hotel for a swim

If the rain is only forecast for part of the day, it's the perfect chance to recharge at your Disney Hotel. Head back for a dip in the pool, a warm drink or a change into dry clothes, then return to the Disney Parks refreshed and ready for more magic.

Disney Hotels with an indoor pool

  • Disneyland® Hotel
  • Disney Hotel New York - The Art of Marvel
  • Disney Newport Bay Club
  • Disney Sequoia Lodge
  • Disney Davy Crockett Ranch

Each Disney Hotel pool is reserved for guests staying at that hotel, so if a swim is high on your wish list, choose one of these five for your stay.

An indoor swimming pool featuring exposed wooden beams, a stone waterfall, and lounge chairs

Partner Hotels with an indoor pool

  • Grand Magic Hotel Marne La Vallée, with a large heated pool and a paddling pool
  • Explorers Hotel, with an indoor water playground
  • Dream Castle Hotel Paris, with the Dragoon Lagoon pool and water slide
  • Ki Space Hotel & Spa, with a 23-metre heated pool
  • Radisson Blu Hotel Paris, Marne-la-Vallée
  • Aparthotel Adagio Marne la Vallée Val d'Europe
  • Marriott's Village d'Ile-de-France
  • Les Villages Nature® Paris, with the Aqualagon, one of Europe's largest indoor water parks, with water slides, a wave pool and a heated outdoor lagoon
  • Relais Spa Val d'Europe, with a spa pool that's perfect for grown-ups (age restrictions apply)

Pools close for maintenance from time to time, so check the details for your hotel before you travel. If you'd like to compare your options, our guides to on-site vs off-site hotels and which Disneyland® Paris area hotels have a shuttle bus can help you choose.

Bonus ideas for a rainy day at Disneyland® Paris

Bonus: Stroll the covered arcades on Main Street, U.S.A.®

Two of the handiest rainy day spots at Disneyland® Park are hidden in plain sight. Liberty Arcade and Discovery Arcade are covered walkways running behind the shops on either side of Main Street, U.S.A.®, linking Town Square all the way to Central Plaza, so you can make your way up and down the street while staying dry.

The Imagineers designed them especially with the Paris climate in mind, and both arcades are beautifully themed:

  • Liberty Arcade, on the left as you enter the park, celebrates the Statue of Liberty and the friendship between France and the USA, with displays on how the statue was built and a tableau recreating its unveiling.
  • Discovery Arcade, on the right as you enter, is filled with models of 19th-century inventions and retro-futuristic posters imagining the cities of tomorrow.

Both arcades connect to the Main Street, U.S.A.® shops through their back entrances, so you can browse for souvenirs, pick up a hot drink and find a seat to warm up, all under cover. They're also a lovely route back to the park entrance during Disney Stars on Parade, and a handy way around the Plaza Gardens Restaurant renovation at the Central Plaza end of the street.

An ornate indoor walkway with lit arched ceilings, hanging lanterns, and vintage shop facades

Bonus: Explore the walk-through attractions

Disneyland® Park is home to some enchanting walk-through attractions that are perfect for a quick, dry adventure at your own pace:

  • Les Mystères du Nautilus in Discoveryland takes you below deck on Captain Nemo's submarine. Keep an eye out for the giant squid at the window!
  • La Tanière du Dragon lies beneath Sleeping Beauty Castle, where a sleeping dragon stirs in its cavern.
  • Sleeping Beauty Castle itself has an upstairs gallery, La Galerie de la Belle au Bois Dormant, telling the story of Sleeping Beauty through beautiful stained-glass windows and tapestries.
  • Le Passage Enchanté d'Aladdin in Adventureland is a covered passage of colourful scenes from the story of Aladdin.

These are lovely places to pop into while you wait for a shower to pass, and little ones love spotting the hidden details.

How to get around Disneyland® Paris in the rain

Between the Disney Parks and Disney Village®

Disneyland® Park, Disney Adventure World, Disney Village® and Marne-la-Vallée/Chessy train station are all just a few minutes' walk from each other. The walk between them is open-air, so keep your poncho or umbrella handy as you hop between the parks.

Inside Disneyland® Park

Liberty Arcade and Discovery Arcade are your best route along Main Street, U.S.A.® (see our bonus ideas), and the shops along the street are linked inside, so you can browse from one to the next.

To and from your hotel

Free shuttle buses run between the bus station by Disney Village® and the Disney Hotels (except the Disneyland® Hotel, which sits right at the park entrance, and Disney Davy Crockett Ranch).

They leave around every 15 to 20 minutes, seven days a week, from 6:30am to 11:45pm (until 1am in summer). They're especially handy on a wet day if you're staying at Disney Hotel Santa Fe or Disney Hotel Cheyenne. Many Partner Hotels also run their own free shuttle to the Disney Parks.

Where to store wet coats and bags

If you'd like to travel light between showers, you can leave wet coats, umbrellas and bags at the Guest Storage service. You'll find it after the main security check and before the Disneyland® Park entrance gates, on the far right as you face the park. It opens daily at 8am and closes 45 minutes after Disneyland® Park closes. In 2026, prices per item, per day are:

ItemPrice per day
Accessories, such as a coat or umbrella€5
Small items€11
Large items€15

Guest Storage can't be booked in advance, so simply drop your things off on the day.

Lockers at Marne-la-Vallée/Chessy station are handy for day-trippers arriving by train. You'll find them on Level +1 of the station, before Disney security, and they're open from 7am to 10pm every day. They take card payments only, and in 2026 they cost €5.50 (small), €7.50 (medium) or €9.50 (large) for 24 hours, with a maximum stay of 72 hours. If you're catching an evening train home, remember to collect your bags before 10pm!

Staying at a Disney Hotel? Most Disney Hotels (except Disney Davy Crockett Ranch) will look after your luggage free of charge on your arrival and departure days.

Prices are correct as of 2026 and may change.

Visiting with a pushchair in the rain

Pushchairs are parked in the signposted areas outside each attraction and theatre, and most of these are outdoors. A fitted pushchair rain cover is a must-pack for families, as it keeps the seat dry while you're enjoying a ride or show. A spare poncho or a small towel to wipe down the seat when you come out is a great extra.

Bringing your own pushchair? Pushchairs up to 92 cm x 132 cm are welcome in the Disney Parks.

Wheelchair and mobility scooter users in the rain

If you use a wheelchair or mobility scooter, a waterproof cover for the controls and battery will help keep everything running smoothly. Liberty Arcade and Discovery Arcade make a handy covered route along Main Street, U.S.A.®, and it's a good idea to allow a little extra time on wet paths.

Guest Relations can help with any questions about getting around on the day. Find out more in our guide to how accessible Disneyland® Paris is.

Visiting for the day without a hotel room?

Day-trippers have plenty of places to shelter and dry off. Inside the Disney Parks, the covered arcades, Café Hyperion, the indoor theatres and long indoor rides like Pirates of the Caribbean are all brilliant choices.

Outside the Disney Parks, Disney Village® has shops, restaurants and the cinema, and the lockers at Marne-la-Vallée/Chessy station are perfect for storing a change of clothes for the journey home.

Where to dry off and warm up

If you get caught in a downpour, here are our top spots to dry off and warm up:

  • The seating areas in Liberty Arcade and Discovery Arcade
  • The big indoor dining hall at Café Hyperion
  • A comfy seat at one of the indoor shows
  • A long, leisurely table-service meal
  • The shops on Main Street, U.S.A.® or in Disney Village®, where you can pick up a cosy Disney jumper or a fresh pair of socks
  • Your hotel room or pool, if you're staying nearby

What to wear at Disneyland® Paris when it rains

There's no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong outfit! A few smart packing choices will keep you dry, comfy and smiling all day.

For your feet

Waterproof shoes or boots with a good grip are the best choice for a rainy day, as they'll keep your feet dry and comfy on wet paths. Leave canvas trainers at the hotel, as they tend to soak up the rain. A spare pair of socks in a zip-lock bag is a game-changer.

Ponchos vs umbrellas

A lightweight poncho is easier than an umbrella on rides, in busier areas and during parades, and it covers your bag too. Disneyland® Paris ponchos are sold in shops across the Disney Parks, and in 2026 an adult poncho costs around €13 to €16. If you're travelling as a family, a multipack of ponchos packed from home is a handy way to cover everyone.

If you bring an umbrella, a compact one that folds into your bag is easiest. Fold it before you enter an attraction and pop it in your bag. On faster rides such as Big Thunder Mountain and Star Wars™: Hyperspace Mountain, loose items need to be stowed safely, so just follow the Cast Members' guidance.

For the season

In summer, a light rain jacket or poncho is all you need. In autumn and winter, temperatures can be chilly, so pack warm layers, a hat and gloves under your waterproofs.

Our rainy day packing checklist

  • A waterproof jacket or poncho for everyone
  • Waterproof trousers for little ones
  • Waterproof shoes or boots with a good grip
  • Spare socks in a zip-lock bag
  • A compact umbrella
  • A waterproof phone pouch
  • A portable phone charger, as you'll use the app a lot
  • A small microfibre towel for wiping seats
  • A pushchair rain cover, if you're bringing a pushchair
  • A plastic bag for wet ponchos
  • Warm layers, a hat and gloves in autumn and winter

Ready for your visit to Disneyland® Paris?

A rainy day at Disneyland® Paris is full of its own magic, with spectacular shows, cosy Character meals and sheltered adventures to enjoy across both Disney Parks. With the official app in your pocket and a poncho in your bag, you'll be ready to make wonderful memories, come rain or shine!
