Our guide to South Coast, Snowmobiling & Ice Cave Tour
Embark on an unforgettable journey starting with a pickup from Reykjavík, and a scenic drive along Iceland’s captivating South Coast. En route, soak in the awe-inspiring landscapes: from rugged mountains to serene pastures, and the endless expanse of black sands kissed by the untamed Atlantic, all framed by distant ice-crowned volcanoes standing sentinel over the terrain.
This adventure showcases two of Iceland's iconic waterfalls: Seljalandsfoss, famed for its enchanting curtain of water allowing for a unique walk behind the falls, and Skógafoss, known for its thundering cascade and the mesmerizing rainbows gracing its mist.
The pinnacle of excitement awaits at the Myrdaljökull Glacier Base Camp, where you'll switch to a colossal Mountain Truck for a thrilling ride through breathtaking vistas, culminating at the glacier's edge. This exhilarating 20-minute journey sets the stage for the marvels ahead.
Then, buckle up for a snowmobile excursion to the ice cave. No prior snowmobiling experience is necessary, but one member of your party must hold a valid driving license as you share a snowmobile. Outfitted with safety gear and guided by our seasoned glacier expert, you'll venture deep into the heart of Myrdalsjökull. A brief walk from the parking lot leads you to the captivating Askur ice cave, where you'll discover a realm of pristine snow and ancient ice, adorned with hues of deep blue, volcanic black, and glistening white.
Encounter expansive "domes" within the cave, and traverse mostly flat pathways, ensuring an accessible and delightful experience for all adventurers.
