Minecraft Meet the Mobs pop-up 

For the very first time, Alton Towers Resort is bringing Minecraft to life on-park in an exclusive one-time event for 2026 from July 18 to August 28.
The exclusive Mob trail is currently the first of its kind in the UK, where guests can meet all-new ‘baby Mobs’, carefully positioned in six Minecraft-inspired scenes around the park. Meet Minecraft Mobs in real life through in-park Minecraft costume character appearances, complete the Minecraft Meet the Mobs trail and stamp their game card to unlock a special digital surprise on completion. You will be able to experience the fun of Minecraft in real life at Alton Towers Resort, fully included with standard park admission.
Those who complete the ‘Minecraft Meet the Mobs’ trail activity will earn an exclusive Minecraft downloadable in-game reward - exclusively available to unlock in the UK at Alton Towers Resort. Fans can also capture photos up-close with the official Mob costume characters Iron Golem, Chicken Jockey and Creeper, plus with puppets including yellow axolotls, baby pandas, pigs, goats, chicks, wolf pups and more. All that work make you hungry? The whole family can fully immerse themselves in the world of Minecraft with themed snack stands serving Minecraft-inspired TNT popcorn and ice-lollies available for purchase.

Scarefest dates: September (26th-27th) and runs through October 2nd-4th, 9th-11th, 16th October – 1st November 2026.

As nights get longer, get ready for creepy scares, shocks, and thrills as Alton Towers Resort celebrates the return of award-winning Scarefest with frantically funny and seriously spooky attractions for all ages. Open until 9.00 pm, prepare for adrenaline-fuelled thrills! Experience world-class rides in the dark, including The Smiler, Nemesis Reborn, and Toxicator, plus terrifying scare attractions for the fearless. There’s spooky fun for the whole family too – from favourites like Runaway Mine Train and Wicker Man to family friendly spooktacular attractions. One day just isn’t enough! Let the fabulousness continue with a Short Break and choose from five spooktacular themed accommodations.

Season and Opening Hours

Alton Towers Theme Park opens for the 2026 season on 14th March 2026 and will be open daily until 8th November 2026. Alton Towers opens at 10.00 am with closing times varying throughout the year.

Alton Towers Resort WaterPark is open all year round (the outdoor area is closed on selected dates) from 10.00 am, with closing times varying throughout the year.

The Smiler is the world's first 14 loop rollercoaster.  Its twisting track combines the world beating 14 loops with a speed of 85km/hr and a track length longer than Oblivion!  This will challenge your body and mind.

The iconic Oblivion was the world's first vertical drop rollercoaster. Don't... look... down! Oblivion makes you face your fears... you know you shouldn't look, but you won't be able to stop yourself taking a peek at the colossal vertical 180 feet drop!     Alton Towers offer fast track tickets for the rides which are available to purchase in the theme park on the day of your visit. Alton Towers Fast Track Tickets are separate from your admission ticket and allow ticket holders to join a fast track queue for many of the park's most popular rides and attractions.

  • Are Alton Towers tickets refundable?

     Free cancellations for bookings cancelled with the operator up to 72 hours before your chosen activity date. No refunds are given for cancellations made within 72 hours.

  • What does Alton Towers ticket include?

     The general admission ticket will allow you access to over 50 rides and attractions within the park. Special events are excluded from this such as Halloween scare mazes during Scarefest. The waterpark is also a separate ticket to this.

  • Can Alton Towers tickets be scanned from a phone?

    Absolutely! Our Alton Towers Tickets are mobile-friendly meaning you can download your tickets from your customer account straight to your smartphone and scan them at the turnstiles. If you do not have a smartphone, simply print your tickets in advance and scan the ticket printout instead. 

  • Can you enter Alton Towers Scarefest with normal ticket?

    Yes, however the scare mazes and addition attractions is a separate upcharge so is not included in the general admission tickets. If you would like to book this you would be able to on their website or on the day.

  • Are there lockers available at Alton Towers Resort?

    Yes, there are lockers for any loose items as these cannot be taken on the rides. Small Lockers are from £1 per hour or £5 per day and large Lockers are from £2 per hour or £10 per day. You can revisit the locker throughout the day at no additional charge.

Accessibility

  • Do Alton Towers do disabled tickets?

    Alton Towers do offer concessions for carers when purchasing an admission ticket. Proof of disability will need to be shown at the Ticket Office

  • Is the park accessible for wheelchairs or guests with reduced mobility?

    Yes, although there are some steep inclines through the park where some assistance may be needed. A lot of the park has faster routes including steps, with an alternative ramp access signposted.

  • Where is Alton Towers?

    Alton Towers is based on Farley Lane, Alton, Stoke-on-Trent ST10 4DB in Staffordshire. You can travel by car, by the X41bus daily from Stafford & Uttoxeter or via train. The closest stations are Uttoxeter or Stoke-On-Trent although you will need to book a taxi from the station.

    Yes, there are picnic areas available to eat at. Alton Towers does offer a wide range of food options for purchase within the parks though and cater for dietary allergies and intolerances.
