When it comes to a seemingly endless supply of LEGO-themed plays on the word “brick,” there is little doubt pride of place should go to their superb Halloween programme each September and October as they proudly unveil their – *insert triumphal music here* – Brick-or-Treat seasonal fun.
Yes, it’s an outrageous pun that might make a comedian blush, but it perfectly suits the occasion in LEGOLAND Florida, and it all kicked off last weekend with a glorious day of Halloween high-jinks and trick-or-treating, all building up to a magnificent night-time finale.
PLUS – the big bonus for us media types was that the park unveiled more details of its forthcoming new blockbuster ride for 2026. The Galacticoaster, as it will be called, will debut early next year as part of a new space-themed land, “on a journey through an interstellar adventure, blending high-speed coaster thrills with imaginative storytelling and cosmic-scale fun,” according to the PR folks.

This major construction project – creating the park’s first indoor coaster for 25 years – will be the most technologically advanced ride in any LEGO park, with senior project manager Blake Boyter insisting: “Galacticoaster marks the first indoor coaster built inside the main park since LEGOLAND Florida opened in 2011. From the very beginning, we aimed to create an immersive experience for our guests from the moment they step inside. From the engineering precision to the LEGO DNA woven throughout, guests will experience more LEGO storytelling, more excitement and more out-of-this-world fun than ever before.”
So, if that doesn’t whet your appetite for 2026, we don’t know what will!
Meanwhile, after the big announcement, we were able to kick back and enjoy the opening day of Brick-or-Treat at our leisure. This wonderfully family-friendly park in Winter Haven – just 45 minutes south of Orlando – is a true haven of seasonal splendour for America’s big autumn festival, and this year is definitely no exception, with an array of live entertainment, LEGO characters, special menu items, and, of course, plenty of sweet treats. And it all comes with a healthy G rating that is suitable for all ages while ensuring the whole family will be thoroughly entertained.
This year’s Halloween presentation starts with its standout live entertainment schedule, from the big stage show of the Zombie Cheer Crew – a high-energy pep rally starring the chief Zombie Cheerleader herself – to the fantastic evening Monster Skytacular drone show over Lake Eloise. It kicks things up a notch with a series of character meet-and-greets, and it includes nine candy stations (open from 2-7pm on event days – see below) to ensure the kids have plenty of treats to take home!

We especially enjoyed the cute Monster Party Carousel overlay on the Fun Town’s iconic carousel ride, The Jammin Jacks street entertainment (a clever jack-o-lantern band with their own take on various Halloween hits), and the piratical overlay of Shipwreck Alley, home to fun meet-and-greets for the LEGO Zombie Pirate and LEGO Shark Suit Guy (a real hoot!).
In between, there was the V.I.M. (Very Important Monsters) Dance Party, hosted by Lord Vampyre and featuring a chance to strut your ghoulish grooves; the Learn About Halloween show (aimed at the youngest visitors, in the DUPLO Valley Schoolhouse), which also offered the Scarecrow Superbrick Build and Candy Corn Scavenger Hunt; and the Jam Out with LEGO Monster Rocker, another musical opportunity to show off your “shock ‘n roll” moves.
In all, there are seven different locations to meet a variety of Halloween-themed LEGO characters for the likes of the LEGO Spider Lady, Wolf Guy, The Mummy and Plant Monster, while the park’s various restaurants and food kiosks have also stepped things up with seven specially themed menu items that are well worth trying. Our out-and-out favourites were the Red Moon Burger at the Kick’n Chicken Co, which was large enough for both of us, and the luscious Pumpkin Potion Shake, a rich concoction of creamy pumpkin cheesecake milkshake with whipped cream and cheesecake bites, topped with a doughnut witch’s hat and broom. Delish!
And it all concluded in truly eye-catching fashion at 8pm with the headline show, Monster Skytacular, with a burst of fireworks and a fabulous drone performance. The pyrotechnics and drones work together to provide a scintillating tableau of special effects, with the drones constantly shifting shape to form new patterns, figures and even spell out words. The LEGO Monster Rocker made an appearance (in larger-than-life drone shape), along with giant ghosts, a witch and Lord Vampyre, and the 10-minute performance finished with a huge burst of fireworks for a truly fitting finale.
Brick-or-Treat runs on select dates – Sept 27, Oct 4-5, 11-12, 18-19, 25-26 and Nov 1-2 – and is included with regular admission. Oh, and don’t miss the newly-reopened and highly themed The LEGO Shop for all the latest Halloween merchandise as well as a dazzling range of LEGO boxed sets, plush toys, mini-figures and much more!
