What is Universal Studios Florida?
Universal Studios Florida is an extensive journey into the worlds that have been the cornerstone of TV and film for Universal Pictures for more than 100 years. Opening in 1990 as the first park at Universal Orlando Resort, Universal Studios was originally the home of icons like King Kong, Jaws and Back To The Future. Over the last 30 years, the park has evolved into an even more dynamic offering, with rollercoasters, special effects extravaganzas and of course, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™.
With your Universal Studios Florida tickets, you’re covered for thrills, family and entertainment, as there’s a great mix of attractions for guests of all ages. Here, you’re the star, and you’ll disappear into one jaw-dropping adventure after another.

Become immersed in the world of Harry Potter™ as you step through the brick wall that is the entrance to Diagon Alley™. Stroll down cobbled streets lined with magical shops and stalls before coming face to face with a real fire-breathing dragon on top of Gringotts Bank.

With plenty to look at out of the windows as you speed past the ‘British countryside’, you’ll be at Hogsmeade™ Station in Universal's Islands of Adventure in no time.

Kang and Kodos’ Twirl ‘n’ Hurl

Universal Mega Movie Parade
It only makes sense to celebrate all things cinema at the number one movie and TV-based theme park in the world! This parade features floats from classic movies like Jurassic Park, Back to the Future, and Ghostbusters, as well as newer favourites like Illumination’s Despicable Me and DreamWorks’ Trolls.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ - Diagon Alley™
The streets of Diagon Alley™ aren’t just alive with magic, but entertainment as well!
- Take a break while listening to the dulcet tones of Celestina Warbeck and the Banshees, Molly Weasley’s favourite singer, performing songs including ‘A Cauldron Full of Hot, Strong Love’ and ‘You Charmed The Heart Right Out Of Me’.
- Or, after getting some refreshments at The Hopping Pot or Fountain of Fair Fortune, watch the stories that inspired their names with a stylised puppet show from the Wizarding Academy of Dramatic Arts, telling the Tales of Beedle the Bard.

Street Performances
As you make your way through the streets of New York, who knows what you might see and hear around every corner. Throughout the day you might stumble upon:

Seasonal Events

Halloween Horror Nights
A stunning autumn fright-fest of haunted houses, chilling scare zones, live shows and the chance to do most of the park’s rides at night. It is a separately-ticketed event after normal park closing and piles on the frights at every turn, with roaming zombies, clowns, chainsaw gangs and other horror characters from well-known films and TV series (plus Universal’s own wicked creations). The main set-piece haunted houses feature elaborately detailed mazes where visitors run the gauntlet of all manner of horror experiences thanks to scare actors around every corner! Previous houses have included Stranger Things, The Haunting of Hill House and Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Mardi Gras
Follow in the footsteps of the famous New Orleans carnival season, with Universal Orlando’s own cavalcade of party fun. The Mardi Gras celebrations offer a fully family-friendly style, with a ‘French Quarter’ of food, music and other kiosks in the New York area of the park, culminating in a grand parade of specially-themed floats that have dozens of riders throwing strings of beads to the audience. On certain dates, concerts also take place on the big stage in Production Central featuring lots of well-known artists. In the past, acts like Kool & The Gang, Marshmello and Diana Ross have all performed.
EXPERT TIP! Want to experience even more of what Mardi Gras has to offer? Every day a limited number of guests can apply for a spot on one of the parade floats, throwing beads into the crowds! Spaces are limited and allocated on a first come first serve basis but we’d recommend trying to get a spot through the Universal Orlando Resort app!

The Holidays
The Holidays at Universal Orlando Resort include both Thanksgiving and Christmas. You absolutely won’t want to miss Christmas in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter™, where hot Butterbeer is served, seasonal entertainment is around every corner and the streets of Diagon Alley™ are decked with ribbons, wreaths and lights! Another fan-favourite of the holiday season is the Macy’s Holiday Parade, reminiscent of the real Thanksgiving Parade that makes its way through New York each year. This parade features larger than life balloons and floats, and Santa Claus himself of course!

Parking is free for all guests arriving after 6pm (excluding Halloween Horror Nights). Parking for overnight guests at the Universal Orlando Resort Hotels starts at $15.
Directions to Universal Studios Florida
For guests of the Universal Orlando Resort Hotels, you can get to Universal Studios by bus, boat, or on foot. If you’re driving, Universal Studios Florida is found to the north of International Drive - simply follow the directions for the Universal Orlando Parking Garage.

What should you bring to Universal Studios Florida?
- A camera - From Minions to monsters, there are plenty of characters to meet throughout Universal Studios, so you’ll want to have your camera at the ready! Plus with so many attractions and incredible themed lands, you’re sure to be snapping pictures all day long.
- Water - Bottled water is of course available at all of the snack and quick service locations in Universal Studios, as well as fountain drinks, frozen drinks and alcoholic beverages, but we’d recommend bringing your own bottle of water to make sure you always have some to hand, especially on hot days!
- Snacks - If you can’t be tempted by any of the amazing snack options in the parks, you can bring your own snacks, as long as you’re not bringing a full picnic! This is particularly useful if you have any special dietary requirements.
What should you wear to Universal Studios?
With so many rollercoasters, simulators and other attractions at Universal Studios, you’ll want to be wearing comfortable clothes that are easy to move about in. It can get pretty hot in Florida, especially in the summer so make sure they’re light and breathable too! Flat, comfortable shoes are also a must as you’ll be doing plenty of walking.
A hat and sunglasses will help to keep you protected from the sun, but you might also want to bring a rain jacket or poncho to keep you dry in the unpredictable Florida weather.
For most rides at Universal Studios, you’ll be required to put all your belongings in a locker, so we’d recommend bringing a bag to keep everything together and make sure you don’t leave anything behind.
