If you’re planning a trip to Spain’s Costa Daurada, PortAventura Park deserves a prominent place on your itinerary! As the original and biggest park within PortAdventura World, it’s home to thrilling, record-breaking coasters, lively entertainment, and six richly themed lands spanning the Mediterranean coast, the Wild West, Mexico, China and Polynesia.

What is PortAventura Park?
PortAventura Park first opened its gates in 1995 as Spain’s first major theme park, and it remains the country’s most visited attraction today! Spread roughly across 105 hectares of the Costa Daurada coastline, the park is divided into six themed lands and packs in more than 40 rides and attractions, including over 5km of roller coaster track.
PortAventura Park is the anchor of the wider PortAventura World® resort, which also includes Ferrari Land (home to Red Force, Europe’s tallest and fastest coaster), and the summer-only Caribe Aquatic Park.

Lands in PortAventura Park
Mediterrània
Your visit begins in Mediterrània, a charming recreation of a Catalan fishing village wrapped around PortAventura Park’s central lake. It’s a relaxed introduction to the park, with waterside dining, gentle rides and some of the best photo spots before you head further inland.
Don’t miss:

- FiestAventura - the nighttime lake show that closes out busy-season evenings with water, light and pyrotechnics

Far West
Far West is PortAventura Park’s biggest land by attraction count, a sprawling Wild West town built around saloons, mine shafts and dusty trails. It’s also home to the park’s newest headline ride, so budget extra time here if you’re chasing thrills.

Shambhala

PortAventura Park's tallest and fastest coaster takes you on an expedition into the Himalayas, climbing 76 metres before sending you over a 78-metre first drop at speeds of up to 134km/h. Opened in 2012, Shambhala held the title of Europe's tallest roller coaster for over a decade and remains one of the most-loved coasters on the continent. Look up before you join the queue - the climb alone is worth the view!
Dragon Khan

One of PortAventura Park's original rides since 1995, Dragon Khan packs eight inversions into a single layout - a record-breaking total when it first opened, and still one of the most intense rides in the park. You'll race through loops, corkscrews and a Cobra Roll, all set against China's Great Wall-inspired backdrop.
Angkor

Cobra Imperial

A gentle, cobra-themed ride tucked into China's Great Wall backdrop. A good option if you want a breather between the land's bigger coasters.
Tea Cups

PortAventura Park's take on the classic spinning teacup ride, with riders controlling their own speed and spin.
Hurakan Condor

Standing around 115 metres tall, Hurakan Condor sends you into a near-100-metre freefall at speeds of up to 115km/h. It's one of the tallest drop towers in Europe, and the few seconds of weightlessness at the top are not for the faint-hearted. Once you're back on solid ground, the name makes a lot more sense - Hurakan was the Mayan god of wind and storm!
El Diablo - Tren de la mina

Climb aboard this family-friendly coaster as it winds through an abandoned mine, picking up speed around tight turns and short drops. Look out for the Neo virtual reality option if you fancy riding it twice - same track, two completely different experiences!
Templo del Fuego

Step inside a Mayan temple for this theatrical walkthrough, complete with real fire effects and dramatic surprises around every corner. It's a different pace to the coasters nearby, but no less memorable.
Serpiente Emplumada

A feathered-serpent-themed ride named after the Mesoamerican deity Quetzalcóatl, offering a step up from México's children's rides without the intensity of Hurakan Condor.
Yucatan

El Secreto de los Mayas

Stampida

Two wooden trains race side by side along Stampida's twin tracks, with riders competing to see who reaches the station first. The wooden structure adds an extra rattle and roar to every turn, true to its Wild West setting.
Uncharted

PortAventura Park's most ambitious recent addition, Uncharted opened in 2023 in partnership with Sony Pictures and is themed to the hit Uncharted film and game franchise. Built by Intamin and Sally Dark Rides, it's billed as the world's first indoor coaster with five launches and the first roller coaster anywhere with a side launch. Expect to be flung through the dark in pursuit of lost treasure, with twists you won't see coming until they're right on top of you!
Silver River Flume

Drift through Far West aboard a hollowed-out log before the ride builds to a splash-down finish. It's a classic flume format, and a reliable way to cool off on a warm day.
Grand Canyon Rapids

Pile into a circular raft for this white-water rafting adventure through the canyons of Far West. Every raft spins and splashes differently, so no two rides are quite the same, and nobody escapes dry!
Tomahawk

A smaller wooden coaster running alongside Stampida, built as a gentler introduction for younger riders not quite ready for the bigger duelling trains.
Crazy Barrels

Furius Baco accelerates from 0 to 135km/h in just 3.5 seconds - one of the fastest launches anywhere in PortAventura Park! Set against the backdrop of Mediterrània's vineyards, it's over almost as quickly as it begins.
Estació del Nord

A gentle steam train circling part of the park, with stations at Estació del Nord in Mediterrània and Penitence Station in Far West - a relaxed way to get your bearings or simply rest your feet between rides.
Tutuki Splash

Climb aboard a hollowed-out log and drift through Polynesia's volcano before a steep splash-down finish - one of the most popular ways to cool down in PortAventura Park. Sit at the front if you want to take the brunt of the splash!
Makamanu Jungle: The Adventure Trek

A new 135-metre elevated trail winding through Polynesia's jungle canopy, included with standard park admission. It's a relaxed way to explore the land from a different vantage point, without a height restriction or a queue for a ride vehicle.

PortAventura Park Express Pass
If you want to spend less time waiting and more time riding, PortAventura Park’s official skip-the-line product is called the Express Pass. It comes in six tiers, from a single chosen ride right up to unlimited access on the park’s most in-demand attractions.
Prices below are the official “from” rates per person, per day, correct at the time of writing. Always check the live booking page for your date, as prices can flex with demand.

Each pass comes with its own terms and conditions, including which rides participate and any seasonal restrictions, so it’s worth a quick read before you buy. Ferrari Land and Caribe Aquatic Park each have their own separate Express Pass ranges, which we’ll cover in their dedicated guides.
Express Passes are normally cheaper booked online in advance than at the park’s gates, and availability can be limited on busy days. On quieter days though (like weekdays outside school holidays), you might not need one at all. On peak summer weekends and around Halloween, it’s worth the investment if there are certain rides you don’t want to miss!

PortAventura Park always opens at 10:00am, but closing times vary by season, usually between 6pm and 11:30pm.
Exact daily hours are published on the official opening times calendar and can change, so we always recommend confirming the opening and closing times for your specific visit date before you travel.
Parking at PortAventura Park
Car parking starts from €16, with a preferred zone closer to the entrance from €21. Caravans and trucks also start from €16, and motorbike parking starts from €6. PortAventura World® hotel guests can park free of charge at their hotels.
Getting to PortAventura Park

- By car: PortAventura Park has direct access from the A-7 motorway, with driving from central Barcelona taking around 1 hour 15 minutes.
- By train: PortAventura Park has its own station on the R-17 and RT2 Rodalies de Catalunya lines. From further afield, AVE and long-distance services call at Camp de Tarragona, with onward bus, taxi and car hire links to the resort.
- By air: PortAventura Park is around 1 hour from Barcelona-El Prat Airport and just 15 minutes from Reus Airport, with bus, taxi and care hire options from both.
- By bus: Coach services run to PortAventura Park from Barcelona and along the Costa Daurada and Costa Brava.
What to Bring to PortAventura Park
- Sun cream, sunglasses and a hat - the Costa Daurada sun is strong, especially between June and September
- A bottle of water, refilled at the park’s water points
- A change of clothes or a lightweight waterproof for the water rides
What to Wear at PortAventura Park
- Comfortable, broken-in shoes - essential for a full day of walking between lands
- Light, breathable layers for spring, summer and autumn visits - the Costa Daurada sun is strong even outside peak summer
- Quick-dry clothing or a poncho if you’re planning to ride Tutuki Splash, Silver River Flume or Grand Canyon Rapids
- A warmer layer or light jacket for winter visits, or cooler October and November evenings during the Halloween season
- Swimwear and a towel if you’re combining your day with Caribe Aquatic Park in summer
