The Holidays at Universal Orlando Resort return from 14 November 2026 to 3 January 2027, and this year the festive fun is bigger than ever. Here are our 10 favourite reasons to visit, plus handy planning tips and answers to your most-asked questions.

Christmas in Orlando is a real treat. The days are warm and sunny, the evenings are cool and cosy, and the theme parks go all out with festive sparkle. And when it comes to Yuletide pizzazz, Universal Orlando Resort is one of our favourite places to be.

Picture snow-capped rooftops in Hogsmeade, the Grinch causing mischief in Seuss Landing and giant balloons floating through the streets of New York. Add a Christmas show projected onto Hogwarts Castle, a cheeky squirrel mascot and 11 beautifully decorated hotels, and you've got the recipe for a very merry holiday.

2026 is shaping up to be extra special too. The season starts a week earlier than last year, and for the first time, SUPER NINTENDO WORLD and How to Train Your Dragon - Isle of Berk at Universal Epic Universe are joining the festive fun!

Here are our 10 favourite reasons to love Universal Orlando at Christmas, plus everything you need to plan your festive trip.

Quick summary:

  • The Holidays at Universal Orlando Resort 2026 run from 14 November 2026 to 3 January 2027, giving you 51 days of festive fun.
  • The festive celebrations in the theme parks are included with your park ticket, so there's no separate Christmas party ticket to buy.
  • Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter spans all three theme parks, with Hogsmeade, Diagon Alley and the Ministry of Magic all decked out.
  • SUPER NINTENDO WORLD and How to Train Your Dragon - Isle of Berk get holiday décor for the very first time at Universal Epic Universe.
  • All 11 Universal Orlando Resort hotels join in, with festive décor, special holiday menus, tree lightings and menorah lighting ceremonies.

When is Christmas at Universal Orlando in 2026?

The Holidays at Universal Orlando Resort run from Saturday 14 November 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027. That's a full week earlier than last year, so you've got even more time to soak up the festive atmosphere.

Some experiences have their own dates within the season, such as the Universal Holiday Tour (select dates until 2 January 2027) and the Green and Red Coconut Club at Universal CityWalk (Wednesday to Sunday, 20 November 2026 to 3 January 2027).

Do I need a special ticket for Christmas at Universal Orlando?

No special ticket needed! Grinchmas, Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Universal's Holiday Parade featuring Macy's and the Epic Universe holiday décor are all included with regular admission to each park.

A few festive extras are booked separately, including the Universal Holiday Tour, hotel holiday dinners and New Year's Eve parties at the hotels. Universal CityWalk is free to enter, so you can enjoy its festive fun without a park ticket!

Do I need a Three Park Adventure ticket?

The Christmas celebrations take place across Universal Studios Florida, Universal Islands of Adventure and Universal Epic Universe, so a Three Park Adventure ticket is the best way to enjoy them all.

It lets you hop between parks on the same day, which is handy if you'd like to watch the Holiday Parade in Universal Studios Florida and then catch the Christmas show on Hogwarts Castle in Universal Islands of Adventure later that evening.

A Three Park Adventure ticket also lets you ride the Hogwarts Express between Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley, which is a magical way to travel between the two parks. Find out more in our guide to why Universal Orlando's best ticket for 2026 is a must.

10 reasons to love Universal Orlando at Christmas

1. Watch Universal's Holiday Parade featuring Macy's

This is the big one! Universal's Holiday Parade featuring Macy's brings a slice of New York's most famous Christmas celebration to the streets of Universal Studios Florida, and it rolls through the park every night of the season.

Giant balloons curated by Macy's float high above the street, alongside colourful floats and characters from Despicable Me, Shrek and Madagascar. The Minions bring the mischief, hundreds of performers bring the energy and festive music fills the air. Then comes the grand finale: Santa Claus arrives to light the park's towering Christmas tree in New York. It's a magical moment you'll want to capture on camera!

While you're in New York, take a wander around the festive streets. The area is transformed with a stunning Christmas tree, views of 30 Rockefeller Center and Macy's-style window displays, so it feels like Christmas in the Big Apple.

Our top tip: The parade usually starts at 5.30pm, but times can change, so check the official Universal Orlando Resort app on the day of your visit. For the best view of Santa lighting the tree, head to the New York area near Revenge of the Mummy and arrive nice and early. An accessible viewing area is also available, and Guest Services can point you in the right direction.

2. Celebrate Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

For Harry Potter fans, this is Christmas at its most magical. For the first time, Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter spans all three theme parks, with festive lights, garlands and décor filling the streets of Hogsmeade, Diagon Alley and the Ministry of Magic.

Hogsmeade's snow-capped rooftops look like they've been plucked straight from a Christmas card, while Diagon Alley and London's waterfront glow with twinkling lights. Look closely at the shop windows too, as there are lovely little festive details hidden everywhere.

There's festive entertainment to enjoy as well:

  • The Frog Choir in Hogsmeade swap their usual songs for a special set of holiday carols, with a mix of wizarding Christmas tunes and much-loved classics.
  • Celestina Warbeck and the Banshees bring their festive holiday show to Diagon Alley, including the wonderfully catchy "My Baby Gave Me a Hippogriff for Christmas".
  • The Ministry of Magic at Universal Epic Universe gets its own festive sparkle, and the streets of magical Paris look gorgeous once the sun sets.

Our tip: Explore during the day to spot all the small details, then come back after dark to see everything lit up. Shopping for stocking fillers? Honeydukes in Hogsmeade is a sweet spot for festive treats!

3. Be dazzled by The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle

As darkness falls over Hogsmeade, Hogwarts Castle transforms into the star of the show. The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle is a stunning nighttime spectacle of projections and special effects, inspired by festive moments from the Harry Potter films.

We love spotting the Yule Ball, the Weasley twins and the flying Ford Anglia crashing into snowmen as the castle comes alive with festive colour. It's been a seasonal favourite since 2017, and it gets us every single year.

The show lasts around eight minutes and plays several times each evening, from dusk until the park closes. If you arrive partway through, simply stay for the next showing.

A tip from us: Check park hours before you go, as Universal Islands of Adventure sometimes closes early on select December evenings. Planning to see the parade first? With a Three Park Adventure ticket, you can walk from Universal Studios Florida to Hogsmeade after the parade and catch a later showing.

4. Get into the Grinchmas spirit in Seuss Landing

Christmas wouldn't be complete without a little mischief, and nobody does mischief quite like the Grinch! Grinchmas takes over Seuss Landing at Universal Islands of Adventure, and it's one of the most colourful festive spots in Orlando, with oversized candy canes, twisty trees and tinsel wrapped around just about everything.

The highlight is The Grinchmas Who-liday Spectacular, a live retelling of Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas! packed with song, dance and plenty of cheeky one-liners from the Grinch himself. It runs for around 30 minutes and features music recorded by Mannheim Steamroller, the best-selling Christmas artists of all time. And keep an eye out for Max, who's played by a real dog. What a good boy!

Here's what else to look out for in Seuss Landing:

  • A Grinch meet-and-greet at Honk Honkers, where the mean green one brings his signature snark to every photo
  • The Who-ville Tree Lot, a dazzling collection of whimsical trees themed to much-loved Dr. Seuss characters, which returns for its second year
  • The Whos of Who-ville, who are out and about and always happy to pose for a photo

If you'd like to start your day with the Grinch, keep an eye out for The Grinch & Friends Character Breakfast. This festive character dining experience is usually held at Circus McGurkus Café Stoo-pendous, and the 2026 dates and booking details are still to be announced.

Our tip: Head to Seuss Landing a little before showtime, as you'll be guided to the show's theatre from there. Showtimes vary by date, so check the official app on the day.

5. Discover Universal Epic Universe's merriest Christmas yet

Universal Epic Universe is getting even more festive in 2026, and we can't wait to see it! For the first time, holiday décor is coming to SUPER NINTENDO WORLD and How to Train Your Dragon - Isle of Berk, joining the returning festive fun in Celestial Park and the Ministry of Magic.

Here's what's in store:

  • Celestial Park returns as a cosmic winter wonderland, with twinkling trees and holiday-themed fountain displays throughout the day at the Cosmos Fountain.
  • SUPER NINTENDO WORLD celebrates the holidays for the first time ever. Universal hasn't revealed the full details yet, so this is one festive surprise we're really looking forward to.
  • How to Train Your Dragon - Isle of Berk celebrates Snoggletog, the Vikings' very own winter holiday, with festive décor around the isle. Look out for festive Viking treats, too. Last year's favourites included the Snoggletog Harvest Mac and Cheese Cone, Frozen Yaknog and Snoggletog Spiked Nog.
  • North Star Wintry Wonders in Celestial Park is a year-round holiday shop, perfect for picking up an ornament for the tree.

Our tip: Stay until the end of the evening for Universal Celestial Goodnight, a dazzling nighttime spectacular of fireworks and dancing fountains. Read our Universal Epic Universe full review to help plan your day.

6. Meet Earl the Squirrel

Every great Christmas needs a mascot, and Universal Orlando Resort has the cheekiest one around. Earl the Squirrel is Universal's very own holiday character, and he's become a firm fan favourite.

As the story goes, Earl was inspired by a real squirrel who made his home in the giant Christmas tree at Universal Studios Florida, nibbling on the light wires and making off with the blue bulbs. Now he's a festive star in his own right, and he loves meeting guests in his seasonal outfit.

The Earl the Squirrel mascot, wearing a green sweater and a plaid hat, interacts with guests next to a decorated Christmas tree and sleigh

You can meet Earl at CityWalk Plaza on select dates, in Hollywood at Universal Studios Florida (across from Universal Orlando's Horror Make-Up Show) and inside the Holiday Tribute Store. Don't forget to look for him hiding in the big Christmas tree in New York, too!

Top tip: Pick up The Tale of Earl the Squirrel storybook for a lovely bedtime read and a festive souvenir to bring home.

7. Get a head start on your Christmas shopping

Christmas shopping at Universal Orlando Resort is an adventure in itself. Each year, Universal transforms its Holiday Tribute Store into an immersive, multi-room wonderland, with themed rooms, hidden details and exclusive seasonal merchandise.

The theme changes every year, so it always feels fresh, and it's returning to Universal Studios Florida for 2026. Keep an eye out for Earl, who's been known to make himself at home among the displays!

The Tribute Store is also one of our favourite spots for festive sweet treats, so save room for something sugary while you browse.

There's plenty more festive shopping across the resort, too. Pick up a wizarding ornament in Hogsmeade, a cosy holiday jumper in Universal Studios Florida or a Christmas decoration at North Star Wintry Wonders in Universal Epic Universe. Each year when you unpack the decorations, you'll relive the magical memories of your trip.

8. Tuck into festive food and drink

Christmas is all about the food, and Universal Orlando Resort serves up plenty of seasonal treats! Throughout the season, you'll find festive cookies, holiday desserts, Grinch-themed treats and warming drinks across the parks.

Of course, a trip to Universal Orlando at Christmas isn't complete without a Hot Butterbeer. It's now on the menu all year round, but there's something extra cosy about sipping one on a cool December evening. It tastes a little like a warm butterscotch hug, and you'll find it at Three Broomsticks and Hog's Head in Hogsmeade, The Leaky Cauldron and The Hopping Pot in Diagon Alley, and Café L'air De La Sirène and Le Gobelet Noir in the Ministry of Magic.

For a grown-up evening out, head to Universal CityWalk, where the Red Coconut Club transforms into the Green and Red Coconut Club. It's a festive retreat filled with live entertainment, seasonal cocktails and vibrant décor, and you don't need a park ticket to visit.

Our tip: Seasonal menus change each year, so check the official app for what's on offer during your visit. If anyone in your group has dietary requirements, our dietary guide to the Orlando parks is a handy place to start.
