About Universal Orlando Resort
Universal Orlando Resort is situated just south of Orlando, Florida, in the USA. The first thing you need to know is that it isn’t just a theme park. In fact, it is three theme parks (Universal Epic Universe opening May 2025), a water park, an entertainment complex, and a series of hotels!
There is so much to do here, with something to suit everyone, from epic thrill rides to delicious food and drinks. One of the biggest draws to Universal Orlando Resort is The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™️, which is an absolute must-visit for fans of the boy who lived.
We’d recommend spending two weeks in Florida if you can. To be honest, with everything there is to do here, you could actually spend a fortnight here and still just scratch the surface!

Universal Orlando Resort features:
- 3 theme parks – Universal Studios Florida, Universal Islands of Adventure, and Universal Epic Universe (opening 22nd May 2025)
- 1 water park – Universal Volcano Bay
- Universal CityWalk – entertainment complex with restaurants, shops, and activities like a cinema, mini golf, and a nightclub
- 11 hotels

Our Recommendations
Universal Orlando Resort tickets
We recommend buying your Universal Orlando Resort tickets in advance of your visit to Florida. Buying before your visit can save you time, as you don’t need to go to the ticket office at the parks. You’ll also get the best deals when you book before you travel, with our tickets guaranteed to be cheaper than buying on the gate.
At AttractionTickets.com, we offer three options for Universal Orlando Resort tickets:
Ticket | Includes | Arrival Year |
Universal Orlando 3 Park Explorer PLUS 1-Day Universal Epic Universe Ticket |
| 2025 arrivals |
Universal Orlando 3 Park Explorer Ticket |
| 2025 arrivals |
Universal Orlando All Parks Ticket |
| 2026 arrivals |
All three tickets include unlimited park-to-park admission, which means you can move between the Universal parks freely and visit more than one park in one day – if you have time, of course!
What to pack for your Universal Orlando Resort holiday
Now you’ve booked your hotel and bought your park tickets, it’s time to get packing! Here are a few things that we recommend you bring with you:

If you need more information, we’ve got some tips for packing for your Orlando holiday here.
Top tip: If you want to do lots of shopping during your trip, we’d recommend bringing an empty suitcase with you. You can buy lots of clothing in the Universal Orlando Resort shops, so leave some outfits at home to save that space in your suitcase for the journey back.
During your Universal Orlando Resort holiday
This section of the guide will give you an idea of what to expect when you arrive in Orlando as well as some top tips for making the most of your holiday.

Download the Universal Orlando Resort app
When you arrive in Orlando, you can download the Universal Orlando Resort app. With this app on your smartphone you’ll have all the information you need right at your fingertips. On the app you’ll find show times and wait times for rides, plus opening hours for the parks.
You can also use the app to order food and drinks as well as store your credit card details for easier payment during your trip. The app also has the park maps on it, so there’s no need to pick up a paper copy.
Top tip: Your phone battery is going to be working overtime when you’re using the app and taking so many photos, so be sure to bring a solar charger with you to keep it topped up.

Getting around during your trip
Where you choose to stay will play a key role in how you get around during your holiday. As you might expect, the Universal Orlando Resort hotels are close to the parks, and there is free transport between the hotels, the theme parks, and the water parks, so getting around is easy and stress-free.
Some of the hotels are within walking distance of certain Universal parks. For example, if you want to be close to the new Universal Epic Universe park, we’d recommend booking a stay at the Helios Grand Hotel, a Loews Hotel, as this is so close to the park it even has its own dedicated entrance! The hotels also have buses and some have water taxis. The buses only go from the hotel to Universal CityWalk, and back again, so you’ll need to change buses if you want to go between hotels.
If you’re hiring a car to get around, there are three car parks near the Universal Orlando Resort theme parks. From these, it’s a short walk to Universal Studios Florida and Universal Islands of Adventure. There are also buses from here to Volcano Bay. Once Universal Epic Universe opens, this will also have its own car park.

Theme parks and water parks
There are three theme parks and one water park at Universal Resort Orlando. Each theme park features a variety of attractions, from thrilling roller coasters to 4D motion simulators and gentle flying rides.
As well as rides, there are epic stunt shows, musical entertainment, light shows, and character meetings. You’ll be able to meet The Simpsons, the Minions and Gru, and some of your favourite MARVEL characters.
Park | Description | Best for |
Universal Studios Florida | Movie-based theme park where you can go behind the scenes and beyond the screen | Movie lovers and families alike will love the variety of rides and shows here |
Universal Islands of Adventure | A theme park with exciting and extreme thrill rides | Adrenaline-seekers and families with older children |
Universal Epic Universe | The largest and newest Universal theme park in the US, opening in May 2025 | Lovers of fantasy franchises – the worlds here are going to be very immersive! |
Universal Volcano Bay | A water theme park with aqua coasters, body plunges, and water slides | Anyone who loves water slides and swimming |

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™️
One of the things that sets Universal Orlando Resort apart from other theme parks is The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™️. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™️ is split over three immersive lands in each of the three theme parks. Each one has a variety of rides, shops, and entertainment, making you feel as if you’ve stepped straight out of Hogwarts.
You’ll recognise some of the landmarks from the movies, and you can even try some of the most famous Harry Potter food and drinks, including butterbeer, chocolate frogs, and Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans (if you dare!)

Universal Studios Florida | Diagon Alley |
|
Universal Islands of Adventure | Hogsmeade |

Universal Epic Universe (opening May 2025) | Ministry of Magic/1920s Wizarding Paris |

Express Pass
The Universal Express Pass is an add-on to your Universal Orlando Resort ticket which allows you to skip the line at most of the attractions at Universal Studios Florida and Universal Islands of Adventure. Each Universal Express pass is only valid for one day, selected at the time of booking, not the full duration of your park tickets.
With an Universal Orlando Express Pass, you can skip the line for each participating ride once. If you get the Unlimited Express Pass, you can skip the line for each participating ride as many times as you like during the day. You might want to buy an Express Pass if you have limited time in the parks or if you really want to tick off every ride.
Top tip: When you stay at one of three Universal Signature Hotels (Hard Rock Hotel®, Loews Royal Pacific Resort, and Loews Portofino Bay Hotel), you’ll get free Universal Express Unlimited Passes2 for each guest in your room for every day of your stay, including the days you check in and check out.
Buying the passes separately can work out a lot more expensive, so it’s worth pricing it up and seeing if you can save money by staying at a Universal Signature Hotel.
Universal Orlando Resort dining
There are many restaurants to choose from with a variety of different cuisines. There’s something for everyone, from fast food options to fine dining. Here are the different dining venues available throughout the resort:
Dining venue | Description |
Table Service (or full service) | Restaurants where you sit down, order from a menu, and you’re served at your table by restaurant staff |
Quick Service (or counter service) | Go to the counter to order and carry your food on a tray to a table |
Bar or Lounge | Primarily alcoholic beverages but may also have a limited food menu |
Market | Pre-packaged ready-to-eat food, usually in the lobby of a hotel |
Buffet | Similar to Table Service restaurants, but you serve your own food from an all-you-can-eat buffet |
Character Meal | Where you can meet Universal characters as you dine |
Universal Orlando Resort tips and tricks
- Use Child Swap: If you’re travelling with small children, then make use of Child Swap. This means that younger guests can skip a ride, and everyone else in the party can go on it without having to queue again
- Use single rider lines: If you’re going on a ride on your own, use the single rider lane as you’ll usually get on it quicker. This line is used to fill up empty spaces, so it’s best for if you are riding alone or if you don’t mind not sitting with the rest of your group. You’ll be sat in any seat that’s free on the ride so you’ll need to be comfortable sitting next to someone you don’t know
- Make a plan beforehand: While you may not wish to plan your day down to the last detail, it might be helpful to have an idea of the rides that you want to do and where they are in the park. This will save you time travelling between the rides
- Arrive early: This is one of our favourite tips and is applicable to every theme park in Orlando. Get there early to make the most of your day and get on rides while the parks are quieter
If you’re ready to start planning your dream trip, get your Universal Orlando Resort tickets today and get ready to enjoy some epic adventures.
