5 Destinations to Watch in 2016
Time to get planning
We always get excited at this time of year because it means a whole year ahead of holiday planning! But where are we dreaming of this year?

It might not have the same iconic image (or bridges) of its close famous neighbour San Francisco, but we’re sure you’ll love the laid-back fun and epic beauty of San Diego. Lonely Planet dubbed San Diego as the city with “America’s most perfect weather”, so with a wet and windy few months ahead of us, 2016 could be the perfect time to visit.

We’ve always loved San Diego, but we’ve recently added so many more experiences to our destinations pages that 2016 is looking more exciting than ever. This year you can enjoy all our tried and tested San Diego attractions and experiences as well as whale and dolphin watching, a trip to the gorgeous La Jolla beach and even a luxury private tour of this beautiful city.

With flights starting from as little as £353, it’s easy to see why San Diego is one to watch for 2016!

Featuring on both the Lonely Planet and the Rough Guides best in travel for 2016 lists, Iceland is not set to wane in popularity any time soon. Whether you picture yourself driving a 4x4 over rugged icy terrain, relaxing in the ethereal beauty of the Blue Lagoon or marvelling at the beautiful Northern Lights from the deck of a small Icelandic boat, 2016 is the year to finally make it happen.

We’d take advantage of Icelandic Air’s free stop over offer which means you can visit Iceland on your way to an incredible holiday in New York! Simply book your flight to New York and give yourself a few days in Reykavik before heading over to New York (with your pre-booked attraction tickets of course!). We’re all for smarter travel in 2016.

We are so excited that this year we will be adding a brand new city to our exciting list of destinations, which we hope you’ll love as much as we do. If you’ve visited before, you’ll know that there are heaps of incredible attractions to take in when you visit Rome, which is why we’ve picked it as our next must-do destination for 2016.

Rome is an awe-inspiring and versatile city which offers an incredible array of sights to suit everyone; from exciting city tours, to ancient ruins and, obviously, fabulous foodie stops. It might not be Europe’s best kept secret but it’s popular for a reason – as the former ‘capital of the world’ there is no better way to soak up history in the origins of modern Europe.

We’re going to make 2016 the year we help you to avoid those infamous attractions queues, save money and generally just make the most of this fabulous city.

Of course we couldn’t have a list of our favourite destinations without including Orlando! But why is it one to look out for in 2016 in particular? Three words: brand….new…rides. And lots of them. There’s Reign of Kong coming to Universal’s Islands of Adventure, MAKO rollercoaster arriving at SeaWorld, Cobra’s Curse being built at Busch Gardens and Frozen Ever After coming to Epcot, to name just a few.

That adds up to a great mix of new rides, from the kid-friendly Frozen ride, through to the family-friendly Cobra’s Curse and right up to the MAKO hypercoaster for the big screams. It’s also a great mix of different parks, meaning there’s something new to see wherever you go!

2016 is also the year some of our old favourites re-open, including Soarin’ and the amazing high-paced Hulk coaster at Universal’s Islands of Adventure. With all this going on, it wouldn’t hurt to have a little look at tickets, would it?

We know our customers love Florida, because we sell thousands of Orlando park tickets a year. But we can’t understand why more of you haven’t discovered the cool art-deco city of Miami, just a three and a half hour drive south of your favourite holiday destination! Not one to keep a great destination as just our little secret, we thought it definitely deserved a mention on our 2016 hot list.

Miami is a truly spectacular city, characterised by art-deco architecture, year-round sunshine and some of the most beautiful wildlife in the world. Just a short drive from Key West, where you can enjoy snorkelling, sunbathing on pristine white beaches and the colourful sights of this tin-roofed town.

Be sure to include a coastal drive down to Miami in your 2016 Florida holiday, we promise you won’t regret it.
