This week has certainly been a whirlwind of ride announcements. First we had the new Raptor Encounter at Universal Studios Islands of Adventure, followed by the expansion of PortAventura and, finally, SeaWorld confirmed our suspicions by announcing the insane MAKO coaster just yesterday.
Now we have the official artwork for the hotly anticipated Cobra's Curse roller coaster due to be built at Busch Gardens, Tampa Bay!
The new ride will be a family friendly spin coaster, with a minimum heigh requirement of just 42", making it accessible for older children. There will be 8 passenger trains, and the ride will begin with riders being lifted 70 foot into the air in an incredible and unusual verticle lift before being dropped dramatically into the Serebgeti Plain! From then on, the cars will be spun 180 degrees so thrill seekers will be travelling backwards along the rails before going into a free spin which is determined by the weight distribution of the passengers! The ride will last 3.5 minutes, making it one of the longer thrill attractions at the park!
As an added bonus, riders will be able to queue in the opulent Tut's Tomb which will be air-conditioned for those hot Tampa summers. The ride is expected to open in 2016, which is clearly a great year for new coasters in Orlando!
