FAQs for Orlando Accommodation: Disney Hotels, Universal Hotels & Villas

Location

  • Where should I stay in Orlando for the first time?

For first-timers, we'd recommend staying onsite, either at a Disney or Universal resort hotel, or a split stay of one week each. Staying onsite comes with some brilliant perks that really elevate your experience, including complimentary transport via monorail, buses and boats, early park entry, earlier Lightning Lane booking windows at Disney, easier midday breaks with little ones, and the full magical "Disney bubble" experience.

  • Is it better to stay near Walt Disney World or Universal Orlando Resort?

It really depends on where you plan to spend most of your time. Disney is the dream choice for families with toddlers or young children, thanks to its huge range of attractions with no height restrictions, and it's perfectly suited for longer stays of four to seven days where you want to soak up the full Disney bubble. Universal, on the other hand, is brilliant for teenagers and thrill-seekers, with a compact and walkable layout that works beautifully for shorter stays.

Many visitors opt for a split stay, a week onsite at Disney followed by a week at Universal, to get the best of both worlds. If Disney is your main focus, staying nearby whether onsite, at a partner hotel, or in a private villa is always a smart move, with options to suit every budget.

  • What is the best area to stay in Orlando without a car?

International Drive would be your best choice. You've got hotel shuttle buses to the parks, the I-Ride Trolley and Lynx bus for getting around, plus Uber and Lyft if you need them. It's only 20 to 25 minutes from the airport too, and with restaurants, shops and attractions right on your doorstep, you really won't feel like you're missing out by skipping the hire car.

Duration of Visit

  • How many days should I stay in Orlando?

We recommend at least 14 nights. This gives you plenty of time to enjoy the parks without feeling rushed, while leaving room for rest days, shopping, other local attractions, and experience days.

If Disney is your main focus, our Disney 14-Day Ticket is the perfect way to make the most of every moment. Planning to visit both Disney and Universal? Our Disney & Universal Combo Ticket is a brilliant way to experience the best of both worlds. Trust us, you'll thank yourself for the extra breathing space!

General Information

  • What type of accommodation do most visitors choose?

It really comes down to your travel group and budget. Couples often opt for hotel rooms, sometimes treating themselves to an upgrade for a little extra comfort. Families tend to go for hotel rooms or larger apartments with basic self-catering facilities, depending on group size. The great news is that Orlando has something to suit every budget, so whatever you're working with, there's a brilliant option waiting for you.

Not sure which option is right for you? Our Orlando experts have visited many times themselves and are on hand to help you find the perfect fit. Simply give us a call on 0800 223 0324 and we'll be happy to help!

  • Which Orlando villa communities are the most popular?

If you want to be close to Disney, Windsor Hills and Windsor Palms are both fantastic choices. For something quieter and more residential, Highgrove is our top pick. Golf lovers tend to gravitate towards Highland Reserve and Reunion, and Champions Gate is consistently one of the most popular areas across the board!

Check out our full range of villa communities and find the perfect one for your Orlando getaway!

  • What’s the difference between Disney Resort hotels and partner hotels?

Disney Resort hotels put you right at the heart of the magic. You'll enjoy complimentary transport to the parks and Disney Springs around the clock, free onsite parking, early access to dining bookings, Lightning Lane selections and Extra Magic Time, plus the option to choose a resort that matches your personal style and theme. Selected Deluxe resorts also offer evening Extra Magic Hours.

Disney Partner hotels sit just outside the bubble, typically near Disney Springs or the Bonnet Creek area. They can offer more competitive pricing, though resort and parking fees are usually paid at check-in. Some provide free park transport and extra magic perks, though these tend to be less frequent than onsite options. You'll also find a wider variety of room types available.
