After we have gone through the safety instructions we start the drive and our journey takes you to the glacier's edge, where the radiant ice cap contrasts starkly with the black desert sands—a sight you'll never forget.
Later, through small rivers and streams, we will take you to the sandy beach which derives from the dormant volcano Katla. After a fun ride on the black beach, we stop at the famous DC3 plane wreck to adore the amazing view up to Mýrdalsjökull glacier and along the big black coast all the way to Dyrhólaey, the southernmost part of Iceland. Along the mountains, we head back to the base.

Nature's showstoppers
Among the stops on this tour are the gorgeous Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls. Seljalandsfoss is part of the Seljalandsá River, which has its origins in the Eyjafjallajökull glacier. What makes Seljalandsfoss so famous and interesting is that you can walk behind it. We recommend you bring either a raincoat or a waterproof coat along if you want to stroll behind it which we of course highly recommend. Skógafoss, another famous Icelandic waterfall, is the starting point of the Fimmvörðuháls walk over to Þórsmörk. This most picturesque of all waterfalls is something of a film star, having been used as a backdrop in films such as Thor: The Dark World and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

- In the event of inclement weather, road closures, or other causes that may impact your hotel pick-up, you will be advised of the nearest collection point. It is the customer's responsibility to be at this location in order to be collected.
- You will receive a voucher for this experience. Please read it thoroughly.
- You will be required to present a printed copy of your voucher at the time of tour departure.
- Pick-up from hotels and guesthouses (if a hotel pick-up ticket is selected) starts 30 minutes before the tour departure time. You will be advised of specific times upon reconfirmation locally.
- Returning from your tour, you will be dropped off at the pick-up point you were collected from or at the closest possible point.
- Requirements: The driver needs a valid driver’s license.
- Solo travelers and groups with odd numbers need to pay a single rider fee at the location.
- We stop at Hvolsvöllur on the way where you can buy lunch or you can pack your own lunch and bring it with you on the tour. We recommend sitting down for lunch before the ride and maybe having a light snack afterward.
- Only one child is permitted per adult on this tour
- The operation of this tour depends on weather conditions on the glacier.
