Complete Guide to Lightning Lanes at Disneyland Resort in California

Since 24th July 2024, Disney Genie+ at Disneyland Resort in California has been known as Lightning Lane Multi Pass, and individual Lightning Lane entry is now called Lightning Lane Single Pass. The names have changed, but the experience remains the same, helping you to have the best holiday possible!

Disneyland Resort has also added a third option, Lightning Lane Premier Pass, for even more flexibility. Planning one day at the parks, or five? Here’s everything you need to know about Lightning Lane passes.

Available to purchase on the day of your visit

Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park each have one attraction available with a Lightning Lane Single Pass:

• Disneyland Park: Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
• Disney California Adventure Park: Radiator Springs Racers

These are two of the most in-demand attractions at the resort. Lightning Lane entry for both is available with a Single Pass or a Premier Pass. These two attractions aren’t part of Lightning Lane Multi Pass.

If your Disneyland Resort tickets include Park Hopper benefits, you can purchase up to two Lightning Lane Single Passes per day, per guest (once per attraction). If your admission is valid for one park per day, you can purchase a Lightning Lane Single Pass for the attraction in the park you have a reservation for that day.

Once you’ve entered a theme park, you can buy Lightning Lane Single Passes in the Disneyland app for the next available arrival window (subject to availability). Prices vary by date and attraction.

Your Lightning Lane Multi Pass works the same way however you buy it. After entering a theme park on the day of your visit, use the Disneyland app to make one attraction selection at a time. Your next selection opens up as soon as you redeem your current one, or 2 hours after you made it, whichever comes first.

You can keep making selections throughout the day, with one Lightning Lane entry per attraction, per day. Each time you secure an arrival window, you’re free to enjoy the rest of the park until it’s time to ride. If your plans change, you can modify your selections in the app.

If your tickets include Park Hopper benefits, you can use your Lightning Lane Multi Pass at both parks on the same day.

When you purchase a Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you’ll have access to all of the below: 

• Lightning Lane Entrances at attractions suitable for everyone - Choose the next available time for classics like "it's a small world", thrill rides including Incredicoaster and newer favourites like Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
• Unlimited Disney PhotoPass Digital Downloads - Download and share digital photos from select dining locations, attractions, iconic settings and more.
• Disney PhotoPass Lenses - Add some extra sparkle to your photos with Disney-themed augmented reality effects.

Available to purchase up to 7 days before your visit

Lightning Lane Premier Pass is the most flexible option. It gives you one-time entry to each available Lightning Lane attraction across both Disneyland Resort theme parks for one day, including Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Radiator Springs Racers. You don’t book arrival windows, so you can ride the attractions you want, whenever you like!

Premier Pass includes the same photo perks as Multi Pass. The Disneyland app keeps track of the experiences you’ve enjoyed and the ones still available to you.

You can buy Premier Passes in the Disneyland app up to 7 days before your park day, from 7:00am Pacific Time. Quantities are very limited and prices vary by date and demand, so it pays to plan ahead. To use your Premier Pass in both parks on the same day, your tickets will need Park Hopper benefits.

The complimentary Disney Genie Service is still included with every Disneyland Resort ticket. It gives you personalised recommendations and an itinerary based on your own attraction and dining interests.

Disney Genie is built right into the Disneyland app, alongside other handy features like attraction wait times and mobile food ordering, so you have everything you need to make the most of your day!
