Our guide to Alone in the Vatican Museum
Experience the Sistine Chapel at its most breath-taking on a special early or after-hours tour of the Vatican Museums. Whether you go first thing in the morning before opening time or in the evening after the site has closed to the public, either way you’ll enjoy VIP access and avoid the crowds that pack the space during normal opening hours. In the capable hands of an expert guide, you’ll explore the halls of the Museums and discover some of the world’s greatest artistic treasures.
As the most unforgettable and exclusive way of experiencing the Sistine Chapel, this tour gives you VIP access in the morning or evening. With the choice of early or after-hours entry to the Vatican Museums, you’ll enjoy the same exquisite, crowd-free experience at the Sistine Chapel and explore with a knowledgeable guide who's a Vatican expert.
Meet your guide outside the Vatican Museums and slip inside the Museums without waiting in line. On the morning tour, you’ll arrive at the Vatican as the sun begins to rise over Rome and access the Museum at 7:30 am — much earlier than when many other "early access” experiences begin. View the galleries and Raphael Rooms as you make your way to the Sistine Chapel as the first visitors to enter the Vatican Museums for the day.
As the crowning moment of your experience, you’ll step into the Sistine Chapel and enjoy the extremely rare experience of being there completely alone. The next 20 minutes are all yours to contemplate the Chapel in impeccable silence with just a handful of other visitors from your group around — a far cry from the typical crowds throughout the day.
If you opt for the evening tour, you’ll meet your guide as the Museums are closing to the public for the day and enter with skip-the-line tickets. Breeze past the crowds exiting as you head off to visit the majestic galleries and Raphael Rooms. The last stop on the tour is the Sistine Chapel where you'll step inside to enjoy this magnificent building with just your small group. After the near-empty Chapel has taken your breath away, you'll say goodbye to your after a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience you'll remember for years to come.
