Our guide to Tower of London Tickets

Explore the ancient walls and discover the stories of kings, queens, and infamous prisoners.

The Tower of London has been a central part of London life for centuries. With many uses throughout history, the Tower has earned a chilling reputation for being a formidable Castle and one that Londoners would have trembled at the sight of.

Once home to wild animals, ‘the royal beasts’, the Royal Mint, and a prison, there is much British history to uncover at the Tower of London Experience.

Highlights Include:

Beefeaters: The Tower of London is famously guarded by Yeoman Warders, who were once used to keep the prisoners inside the Tower safe. Now, you will find them outside the Crown Jewels, watching the Tower’s proceedings and guarding the grounds.  They are the experts on the Tower of London. Why don't you stop one and ask a question about the history of the Tower?

The Crown Jewels: These dazzling diamond-encrusted masterpieces are a must-see part of the Tower of London and won’t leave you disappointed. Owned by some of the most famous monarchs in British royal history, you will see which Crown was worn by which Queen or King. You’ll even get to see King Charles III’s exquisite Imperial State Crown worn at the State Openings of Parliament.

Royal Beasts Exhibition: Once home to a vast array of wild animals, the Tower of London now features the Royal Beasts Exhibition, offering visitors an insight into this fascinating part of history. From lions to baboons (and even a polar bear!), many royal beasts called the Tower of London home.

The Line of Kings: See historic armours, including those of Henry VIII, Charles I, and James II. These are set in a parade alongside beautifully carved horses. Dating back to the 17th century, the Line of Kings is one of the earliest museum exhibits. You won't see any Queens or less popular monarchs in this exhibit, as they didn't play a part in the royal message that the monarchy wanted to give early Tower visitors.

The Tower's Mint: For over 500 years, the Mint produced most of the nation’s coins. Discover its rich history, from Isaac Newton’s fight against counterfeiters to Edward I’s harsh penalties for tampering, Elizabeth I’s restoration after Henry VIII’s meddling, and Charles II’s rejection of Commonwealth money.

The Medieval Palace: The Tower of London’s royal apartments that once hosted medieval kings and queens will be re-imagined in a new permanent display opening this May, transporting visitors back to the 13th century through innovative storytelling, hands-on interactives, and new multisensory displays. The magnificent royal lodgings are among the oldest parts of the Tower of London, built at the orders of King Henry III and King Edward I, and used as domestic and diplomatic spaces by the two kings and their queens, Eleanor of Provence and Eleanor of Castile. The new displays will take visitors on an immersive journey into the medieval world. Beautiful new illustrations will tell the story of life in the palace and of the royal household on the road. The walls of the palace will be enriched with recreated medieval textiles, culminating in Edward I's bedchamber, which has been recreated using meticulous research from medieval accounts. Visitors will explore how Eleanor of Castile was a patron of learning and a great influence on the decoration of English royal interiors. A new interpretation will help visitors to explore what defined this pivotal but sometimes overlooked period of history. The display also shares stories from the lives of less well-known individuals from the royal household, including Edward I's laundress Matilda de Wautham, and John de Navesby, the keeper of the white bear at the Tower of London.

I am always worried when buying tickets from a company for the first time. I was worried they weren't genuine because they were so much cheaper than anywhere else. I shouldn't have worried, I had no problem at all with these. I will certainly use them again.
