The key new element of Epcot’s transformation was announced by Disney this week to be a focus on a play pavilion, ‘devoted to playful fun and feature an innovative city’. The new pavilion will be full of exciting and hands-on activities as well as some of your favourite Disney Characters and unique entertainment. The new area will be in the pavilion formerly known as Wonder of Life when it opens just in time for the 50th anniversary celebration at Walt Disney World Resort.
“This innovative, new pavilion is beyond anything we’ve ever created and is completely unique to Epcot,” said Zach Riddley, portfolio executive, Walt Disney Imagineering. “Built on the power of play, it introduces an immersive and interactive ‘city’ where you can explore, create, and interact with some of your favourite Disney Characters. This is an experience worthy of our bold vision for Epcot – and another signature element of our transformation.”
That’s not all though! The main Epcot entrance will also be changing, with the current Leave a Legacy photos being moved to a prime spot just outside the Park’s gateway to make room for new path ways and sweeping green spaces, as well as a completely reimagined new fountain.
On top of this, Disney have also announced a new Experience Center located in the Odyssey Events Pavilion, which will feature interactive exhibits for the duration of the Park’s transformation period to help guests understand the new vision for the Park.
These new announcements come after Disney revealed last year that 2 new attractions will be opening at the Park. A brand-new Ratatouille ride will be joining the France pavilion, while an epic Guardians of the Galaxy roller coaster will be joining Future World.
