Speak to one of our Disney experts

Have questions about your trip to Walt Disney World Resort? Whether you’re deciding which hotel to stay in or where to make your dining reservations, our sales and customer service teams are experts on all things Disney, and many of them have visited with their own little ones. From skip-the-line options to pram hire, there’s almost nothing they don’t know!

Top tips for visiting Walt Disney World with young kids

If you asked us “what’s the best age to take my child to Walt Disney World?” we’d say “whatever age they are right now!”. But we do know that travelling anywhere with little ones can have its challenges, so here are some of our top tips to keep your holiday as magical as possible!

  • An icon of a pushchair

    Use a Pushchair

  • An icon of an apple

    Bring your Own Snacks

  • An icon of a water bottle

    Bring a Refillable Bottle

  • An icon of a man relaxing next to a clock

    Take Regular Breaks

  • An icon of a checklist on a clipboard

    Plan in Advance

  • Even if your child has grown out of using a pushchair at home, you’ll do a lot of walking in the Disney Parks and their little legs are likely to get tired, so we’d recommend using a pushchair during your holiday if they can still fit in one. You can hire one in the parks, bring one from home, or buy a cheap one from Walmart or Target once you arrive in Orlando.

  • There are some incredible snacks available to buy in the parks (including some princess-inspired ones!) but you can also bring your own snacks in too. Whether you’re bringing them from home or buying them in America, we’d recommend having some dried fruit snacks, granola bars, biscuits or crisps on hand for whenever they (or you!) get peckish in a queue or waiting for a show.

  • Florida isn’t called the Sunshine State for nothing! It can get hot, especially during the summer, so it’s important to stay hydrated. If you bring refillable water bottles, you can fill them at filtered water stations throughout the park, or with a free cup of ice water from any quick-service restaurant.

  • With so much to do at Walt Disney World Resort, it can be tempting to go full steam ahead to get everything done. But you and your little ones will appreciate a break, especially if you take it during the hottest point of the day. This is one of the best reasons to stay at a Disney Resort hotel, as you can quickly and easily head back for a nap or a dip in the pool before going back into the parks for more fun in the evening.

  • Both you and your kids will have a better holiday if you do your research and plan in advance. Make dining reservations, check height requirements, and make a list of must-dos. If they’re old enough, get the kids involved in this too, so the excitement can start right from the beginning!

Frequently Asked Questions

General Information

  • Is it worth staying on-site at Walt Disney World?

Yes! There are so many benefits to staying onsite at a Disney Resort hotel, including early theme park entry each morning, free transportation to and from the parks, early access to Lightning Lanes and dining reservations, Disney Dining Plans, and more. Plus, you'll be as close as possible to the parks, making it so easy to go back and forth to the magic.

  • Are there any princess themed hotel rooms at Walt Disney World?

Yes, there are Little Mermaid themed rooms at Disney's Art of Animation Resort, general Princess-themed rooms at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside, and Moana-themed rooms at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort.

  • Which Disney World park has the princesses?

All four Disney World theme parks have at least one Princess experience, but the parks with the most Princesses are Magic Kingdom Park and EPCOT.

  • Where can you meet Anna and Elsa at Walt Disney World?

You can meet Anna and Elsa at the Royal Sommerhus in the Norway Pavilion in EPCOT. You can also see them in the Festival of Fantasy Parade and Royal Friendship Faire in Magic Kingdom Park, and the Frozen Sing-Along Celebration in Disney's Hollywood Studios.

  • What's the best Disney transportation option when using a pushchair?

You can travel on the Disney Skyliner and monorail without needing to take your child out of their pushchair. You can take a pushchair onto the Disney buses, but you will have to fold it up (unless it is tagged as a wheelchair)

Rides & Attractions

  • How can I keep kids entertained in the queues?

The Play Disney Parks app is perfect for keeping everyone entertained in attraction queues, with mini games and challenges themed around the area or attraction you're in. Games like I-Spy and Heads Up are also great for keeping the whole family entertained. Some attractions, like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh even have interactive elements incorporated into the queue itself!

  • Is Lightning Lane Multi Pass worth it for families with young kids?

If you know your little ones are going to get restless in longer queues, Lightning Lane Multi Pass is definitely worth it. This allows you to skip the regular queues for select booked attractions throughout the day, and if you can tick off more attractions on your park days you'll have more time for a couple of rest days during the holiday. You can even book up to three attractions per day in advance, so if there are any must-do attractions for your little ones you can make sure they're booked before you even arrive.
