Top tips for visiting Walt Disney World with young kids
If you asked us “what’s the best age to take my child to Walt Disney World?” we’d say “whatever age they are right now!”. But we do know that travelling anywhere with little ones can have its challenges, so here are some of our top tips to keep your holiday as magical as possible!
-
Even if your child has grown out of using a pushchair at home, you’ll do a lot of walking in the Disney Parks and their little legs are likely to get tired, so we’d recommend using a pushchair during your holiday if they can still fit in one. You can hire one in the parks, bring one from home, or buy a cheap one from Walmart or Target once you arrive in Orlando.
-
There are some incredible snacks available to buy in the parks (including some princess-inspired ones!) but you can also bring your own snacks in too. Whether you’re bringing them from home or buying them in America, we’d recommend having some dried fruit snacks, granola bars, biscuits or crisps on hand for whenever they (or you!) get peckish in a queue or waiting for a show.
-
Florida isn’t called the Sunshine State for nothing! It can get hot, especially during the summer, so it’s important to stay hydrated. If you bring refillable water bottles, you can fill them at filtered water stations throughout the park, or with a free cup of ice water from any quick-service restaurant.
-
With so much to do at Walt Disney World Resort, it can be tempting to go full steam ahead to get everything done. But you and your little ones will appreciate a break, especially if you take it during the hottest point of the day. This is one of the best reasons to stay at a Disney Resort hotel, as you can quickly and easily head back for a nap or a dip in the pool before going back into the parks for more fun in the evening.
-
Both you and your kids will have a better holiday if you do your research and plan in advance. Make dining reservations, check height requirements, and make a list of must-dos. If they’re old enough, get the kids involved in this too, so the excitement can start right from the beginning!
