Discover Victoria’s first national park on a scenic day trip to Wilsons Promontory!

Escape the city and explore Wilson’s Promontory National Park on a full-day tour from Melbourne, filled with coastal scenery, native wildlife and unforgettable walking trails.

Our guide to Wilsons Promontory Day Tour

Departing Melbourne at 8:00am, this full-day tour takes you south through the scenic Gippsland region to Wilsons Promontory National Park, the southernmost point of mainland Australia.

Covering over 50,000 hectares, Wilsons Promontory — affectionately known as “The Prom” — was Australia’s first national park, established in 1898. Today, it remains one of Victoria’s most loved natural destinations, celebrated for its sweeping coastal views, pristine white beaches, lush forests and well-maintained walking tracks.

Wildlife is a big highlight here. The Prom is home to kangaroos, wombats, emus, a wide variety of native birds and other Australian wildlife. With a bit of luck, you may spot several species up close as you explore the park.

The best way to experience Wilsons Promontory is on foot. Enjoy scenic walks along some of the park’s most impressive trails, including a visit to Squeaky Beach, famous for its pure white quartz sand that “sings” beneath your feet.

You’ll also have the option to choose between two memorable walking experiences:

  • A gentle rainforest walk through Lilly Pilly Rainforest, or
  • An easy-to-medium graded hike to the summit of Mount Bishop, where panoramic views reward your efforts.

With a maximum group size of 24 guests, this tour offers a relaxed, uncrowded way to explore one of Victoria’s most spectacular natural landscapes. Along the way, your friendly and knowledgeable guide will share local insights and ensure you make the most of your time in this remarkable national park.
