A city break with small children might seem a little daunting, but it doesn’t need to be! Take the city at your (or their!) own pace, and you’re guaranteed to have a good time. There are plenty of amazing kid-friendly activities to do in Paris, you just need to know where to look…
Stuffy museums are probably a bit of a no-go with young children, but the magical Museum of Natural History is sure to have them captivated. Even if they’re not interested in the towering dinosaur bones which loom over the museum (which children wouldn’t be?!) there’s the captivating Galerie des Enfants and the Cité des Sciences with plenty of interactive and hands-on exhibits that are perfect for keeping little ones entertained while they learn.
You’ll score massive brownie points with the kids taking them for a magical day at Disneyland Paris, which is just 40 minutes from central Paris on the train. Although longer term tickets are available, it’s easy to pop over to the parks for just a day. Between the two parks, you’ll easily fill at least a full day with rides, characters and amazing shows – in fact you’ll definitely wish you stayed longer! Make sure you finish your day with a visit to Buffalo Bill’s Wild West show – an electrifying Disney show with the opportunity to meet Mickey for a photo op after!
Back in the centre, save little legs from getting over-tired by taking a tour of Paris on the River Seine Hop-on Hop-off sightseeing cruise. On the cruise, you can stop off at 9 major sights which include the Louvre, Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame Cathedral, but as the ticket is valid for up to 2 days, you’re really free to go at your own pace. Kids can take the cruise at half the price of adult passengers, so it’s also a really affordable way to navigate this beautiful city – not to mention relaxing!
If you’re visiting in summer, you might want to visit one of the city’s many parks and open spaces. The kids are guaranteed to love the Jardin de Plantes which, though beautiful, is not as pristinely manicured and stuffy as some of Paris’s other parks. It’s also home to an enchanting botanical garden which will make the kids feel las if they’re lost in an ancient wonderland, and the Ménagerie, where you’ll find goats to pet as well as bigger and more exotic animals to gaze in awe at. Another nice park that is great fun for kids is the Jardin d’Acclimatation, which has been entertaining children since 1860. Two small fairgrounds, the mini rollercoaster and a miniature train are especially popular with the little ones.
