NEW FOR 2019:

We are delighted to share the unveiling of phase two The Exmpire State Buildings reimagined guest journey, the Second Floor Galleries as part of The New Empire State Building Experience.

Starting with the spectacular new entrance which opened last August, the second floor galleries allow guests to walk through a museum experience and enjoy a journey into The Empire State Building history and mystique. The multiple hands-on exhibits take visitors of all ages back in time through storytelling that begins from the inspiration, to the construction, and to its current place in pop culture.

At the beginning of the experience, several telescopes mimic original survey markers, used to position the levels of construction. Looking into the lens of the markers, guests can see short film clips of actors reenacting day to day interactions that would have occurred on the street outside in the early days of the building’s construction.

As guests walk through the exhibits, they can then explore the building through different decades and interact with touch screens that outline the specific measures taken to make the Empire State Building a world leader in sustainability and a leading example in energy efficiency.

One of the many highlights of the experience is the recreation of the original elevators, a design by Otis that was groundbreaking for its time. Guests have the chance to step into a simulation of an elevator, where spatialized audio, jets of air, as well as an optical illusion with a one way mirror on the floor, emulates the feeling of looking many floors down the shaft.

Another exhibit has a sweeping 72-screen, 180-degree surround-sound Theater that plays over 600 clips of the Empire State Building as seen in TV and films around the world, accompanied by a music score composed especially for this exhibition by a 60-piece orchestra creating an overall breathtaking effect.

A hallway with original King Kong movie posters leads to a 1933 office at the top of the Empire State Building. Visitors can touch King Kong’s hands which have broken through the walls. HD displays and 4D media elements make it seem like the famous ape is right outside the window.

What are the Empire State Building ticket options?

There is a range of different Empire State Building ticket options to choose from:

  • With the Empire State Building VIP Express Entry Ticket you can bypass the ticket, security and elevator lines. There is no faster way up to the 86th Floor Observatory or down again.

BEAUTIFUL! We went at night. I would recommend doing this at night and the top rock in the day. The Empire State is where I fell in love with the city.
