Our guide to Madrid Ultimate Spanish Food Tour
Your Madrid food adventure begins with a sweet surprise: forget everything you know about churros. At a beloved neighbourhood café, you’ll taste Madrid’s best churros with chocolate while learning the true story behind this iconic duo.
(Morning tours only. Evening tours swap churros for a tapas stop with two local favourites and a beer.)
Next stop: bread, the madrileño way. At a tiny bakery run by a passionate young baker from northern Spain, you’ll discover why great bread is rare in Madrid—and taste the proof in his famous chorizo-stuffed rolls.
Then, dive into daily life at Mercado de Antón Martín. This bustling market is where locals shop for their everyday essentials. You’ll sample olives, cured meats, fresh produce, and Spain’s prized extra virgin olive oil, washed down with a glass of vermouth—the aperitif madrileños swear by.
From market to history: step into a humble neighbourhood deli with a fascinating past, once a secret meeting spot against Spain’s dictatorship. Here, you’ll enjoy a guided tasting of Spanish cheeses paired with two regional wines.
No Madrid food tour is complete without a calamari sandwich. You’ll try the city’s best version near Plaza Mayor—crispy, golden, and eaten standing outside the bar, just like the locals do.
Finally, end on a sweet note. At a pastry shop dating back to 1855—founded by the Spanish queen’s pastry chef—you’ll savour a traditional Spanish dessert with coffee or tea.
