The Florida theme parks are famous for their incredible roller coasters, but did you know just how many of these popular rides you’ll find at Busch Gardens? Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is home to some of the best roller coasters in the world- not to mention the most terrifying! If you’re a serious thrill seeker, you’ll be in your element braving the park’s top attractions during your visit.
If you’ve already got your Busch Gardens tickets, we're sure you're ready to brave the park’s best coasters but with so many to choose from it can be hard to know where to start. That’s why we’ve put together a handy guide to help you out. So, (in no particular order!) here are our favourite Busch Gardens coasters…
Tigris is the newest roller coaster at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, having only opened in April 2019. Like the name suggests, this coaster is inspired by the most powerful cat in the world- the tiger.
This incredible new attraction is already a hit with guests and we think you’ll love it too. Tigris is now Florida’s tallest launch coaster, making it a record-breaking ride. Once onboard, you’ll face a 150-foot skyward surge, an inverted heartline roll, forwards and backwards motion, twist, turns and drops all at speeds of up to 60mph!
We absolutely love this coaster because it’s just SO much fun! Don’t be fooled into thinking this is a tame ride though. Cheetah Hunt definitely isn’t for the faint-hearted and will have you screaming all the way around the track. Prepare to mimic the movements of the fastest land animal in the world as you race high above the park at speeds of up to 60mph.
Cheetah Hunt spans over 4,400-feet, making it the park’s longest thrill attraction. This isn’t just any coaster, it’s a TRIPLE launch coaster!
Trust us when we say that SheiKra is a seriously scary ride! On this floorless dive coaster, you’ll start by climbing 200-feet into the air before coming to a stop on the edge of a 90-degree angle. You’ll be held here for what seems like an eternity before plummeting 200-feet back towards the ground and racing into a 70mph roller coaster whirlwind.
There’s an underground tunnel and a grand finale that finishes with a huge splash. Make sure you don’t miss this epic coaster experience!
Montu is one of the most popular rides at Busch Gardens thanks to its high speed and exhilarating inversions. In fact, Busch Gardens have given it a ‘Ride Thrill’ rating of extreme! Want to know what makes it so extreme? Well, there are no less than 7 inversions and that’s just the start.
You’ll also face a 60-foot vertical loop, a weightless roll and a twisting drop. Montu also features an Immelmann loop which is a simultaneous loop and roll. It was actually the first coaster in the world to incorporate this loop! If you’re crazy for coasters, don’t leave without trying Montu.
This coaster is legendary at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and is a firm favourite with fans. If an initial 135-foot drop wasn’t scary enough, you’ll then plunge into a diving loop and feel 3-seconds of absolute weightlessness while spiralling 360-degrees!
Kumba has one of the world’s largest vertical loops and definitely provides plenty of thrills. If you love roller coasters, don’t miss out on the chance to ride this epic attraction.
Next year, a brand new roller coaster will be unveiled at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. The attraction doesn’t currently have a name, but we do know that it will be a hybrid coaster made of both wood and steel. When it opens in 2020 it will become the tallest hybrid coaster in North America and the fastest and steepest hybrid coaster in the world! We already can’t wait to try it.
